“Brilliant location, comfortable rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

This hotel is in a fantastic location, right next to St. Paul's cathedral and very close to a tube station so the rest of London is easily accessible. The room was quite spacious and had very comfortable beds. Bathroom was also nice and clean, the shower was fantastic - sometimes these can be a bit hit and miss! Room was kept nice and warm, we were there in the very cold snowy period of winter 2012 and the whole hotel was very cosy throughout. The only thing it was lacking was a personal touch.

Really great location, great views from the room and the roof terrace (see Dr Who for details). Great pool, other facilities good as well.

We got a pretty good deal but make sure yours includes breakfast which is pretty steep otherwise.

The staff were very willing but just got too much wrong, i.e. room service delivered to wrong room, mistakes on Breakfast order. Most staff weren't native English speakers and I think that showed.

Room Tip: Dont get a room above the bar on Saturday night. Rooms in NE corner have great view of St Pauls

We booked this hotel through last minute as a top secret deal.

We were really pleased with the location of the hotel near a number of tube stations and also being right next door to St Pauls.

The room was nice and clean with a seperate shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable and the room was so quiet - I had one of the best nights sleep in a while.

The only down side was the very expensive breakfast.

I woul definatley stay here again.

The hotel is listed as 5 star and I would say that it isn't that good but it's a very good 4 star. The only other slight negative is that some people seem to have paid a fair bit less than us and the breakfast price is scandalous.

That aside I only have good things to say and would stay in this hotel again and again. It is in a great location, right in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral and the millennium footbridge, Tate Modern, etc. it has a beautiful pool and Spa and its own restaurant menu looks good.

The rooms were lovely, really nicely decorated and furnished and very comfortable. Our bags were brought up to our room after we had checked in and this typified the level of service we received. All staff were extremely polite and friendly, Wi-Fi was free and the drinks in the bar were no more expensive than any other bars locally.

As for the breakfast; in the morning I went for a 60 second walk and purchased sausage cobs, bacon cobs, juice and fresh fruit. There was no shortage of places doing breakfast including full cooked for about £5-6.

Stayed at the grange after booking a "Top Secret" deal through Lastminute.com. £218.00 for 2 nights, wouldn't pay anymore.
Hotel itself is beautiful, breakfast is rather overpriced considering the basic nature of whats available at a 5 star hotel. Location is ideal, with the underground just on the other side of the cathedral and the views of St Pauls from the hotel bar are fantastic.
Upon an early arrival we were able to leave our luggage with the concierge which was a great help and able to complete the paperwork to avoid having to do so at check in time. Again very helpful and pleased with everything so far
HOWEVER upon check in, we were requested a swipe of a credit/debit card for any additonal charges. This isn't an unusual procedure in hotel granted yet without this being explained before hand, £100 was taken as a "pre authorisation" payment, which apparently once released after check out can take upto 3-5 working days to be released back into your bank account. Not ideal if this is being taken from a debit account!
This was never mentioned on Lastminute.com and I have not seen this procedure detailed anywhere on the hotel's website, a swipe of the card wouldn't have been an issue, but to hold £100 back before our trip had even started meant we had lost £100 from our budget for the weekend into limbo. The receptionist failed to explain there would actually be an amount taken from the card, if she had done so we would have used a different account. This may seem petty yes, but this clear lack of communication effectively ruined our weekend as we spent time watching the pennies instead.
There also seemed to be a lot of staff standing around not doing a lot and one member of staff doing 10 peoples work.
Other than those two things, the hotel was lovely, housekeeping did a fantastic job of maintaining the room/corridoors and reception/bar and restaurant area, location is ideal for Millenium Bridge, Tate, Globe, Borough Market, its just a real shame that unfortunately the paymenmt issue is what we'll remember The Grange for...

Disappointing . . . I was expecting a 5 star hotel and quite frankly I don't think this is really. Room was ok quite dark and dingy. Carpet had sign of wear and a stain. Bath tap leaked.
Pillows were flat and bed was rock hard. Only one dressing gown in room although we booked as a couple.

Had a Eurostar trip to Paris as a Christmas pressie which was booked for 30/03/13. Decided to extend the weekend with a couple of nights stay at The Grange By St Pauls.
Lovely, chic boutique style hotel - layout and style fabulous.
Staff were friendly, helpful but not invasive.
Rooms decent size, we had an internal room ovelooking the restuarants and foyer, which was interesting - but in the mornings it felt strange not being able to look outside to see the day/ weather. Also prefer to have fresh air flow than running air conditioning in the room.
Definately will return again and hopefully soon, but will request a room with a street view.
Brillinat stay thank you.
