“Okay for a night or two - as long as it's not too warm!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Myself and partner stayed here for a week in August '12 as an interim whilst relocating to London. Got a reasonable rate through an opaque booking site given it was Olympic season but beware - this hotel has no aircon, please consider this if staying in the summer! On our first night we were put into a room in the basement level that was twin only (we booked a double) and incredibly small. We were then moved to a room with a double on the ground floor just off reception which had a strange double door arrangement, a door into the room, then another door (with a wired glass window like an office door between this one metre square 'lobby' with bathroom off and the actual room , very odd and extremely unhandy to try and work through with luggage, it was like going through a turnstile! The room's window looked out onto a ground level courtyard area off which several other rooms accessed so was quite noisy and not very private, due to the "internal" window there was also no airflow at all and the room was unbelievably hot. We had to sit with both the window open and the door to the corridor propped open to get a little bit of a breeze through, not very relaxing! We mentioned this the next morning and said could we please get a room that was slightly bigger a with a suitcase each we couldn't open and close the door properly! If I had booked a cabin on a sleeper train or a ferry I wouldn't have been that surprised but this was seriously the smallest hotel room I have ever had. What worried me more was that according to the sign on the back of the door showing the layout and fire escape, there was another room even smaller than that!

Room for the rest of the week we were moved to on first floor was much better, almost three times the size and a little more airy - make sure and ask for a larger room on checkin! Nice continental breakfast available in the basement each morning but very busy.

Overall, if you get a decent room then this isn;t bad, five minute walk from Paddington and 7/8 to Hyde Park. Just make sure and ask not to be put in one of the "cupboard" rooms and avoid during the peak of summer heat I would suggest.

Hotel is in a great location. It is a bit confusing the first time you go there as the hotel is part of a long buildng that has a different establishment every few doors. It is on the corner of Sussex Garden and London Street. Hyde Park is a 10 minute walk. Convenient to the tube and other trains. Lots of shopping and food in the immediate area. Safe place to walk around in the evening.
Rooms are basic, nothing fancy. A bit small (no surprise), but clean. Bathroom is also small, but it was clean too. Good water pressure. Room had a water pot with coffee and tea. WIFI worked and no extra charge. Small lobby bar. Breakfast was very good with both hot and cold options. Wouldn't call the bed "comfy" but it was acceptable for the two days I was there. There are other bigger and fancier places, but if you are more interested in spending your money sightseeing etc...it will work.

As first time travellers to London, we found Days Inn London Hyde Park to be quite a good place to start with. It is conveniently located within 15 minutes walk from Paddington Station (15 minutes ride from Heathrow Airport by Heathrow Express, or if you're not in a hurry, 30 minutes ride via Heathrow Connect) and connects with Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, District and Circle Lines (Tube). There are plenty of restaurants and mini-markets nearby (including a M&S Simply Food and Sainsbury inside Paddington Station). Many buses run along Praed Street (in front of Paddington Station) and there's a bus stop for Big Bus Company where you can purchase a 48-hour ticket to hop-on-hop-off its route which covers most major attractions in London.
On the whole, we felt the hotel was good value for money as the room was adequately sized with a decent bathroom and free wireless broadband in the room. Breakfast was good enough for us and the frontline staff were helpful when approached for advice and directions.

Room Tip: Request for a ground floor unit if you have many luggages.

Small and basic but clean and good value for money. Suitable for city trips especially if you have no car, as the location is excellent, relatively central, well connected to train, buses and underground.

Very small basic rooms, small beds but clean. We had to change rooms when we got there because the room was so small and dark. Not designed for a long stay. Breakfast was quite poor and very basic even for a continental. The hotel was in a good central location. Parking was minimal.

It's a basic small hotel, but in a very central location in London, 5min walk to Hyde Park, 5min walk to Paddington train/tube station, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. So location and price we paid gets the thumbs up but the room was very small, breakfast was extremely basic and a bit of road noise. Not sure if I would stay again!

Stayed here 11/12 January ... booked early and only paid £51 for B&B which is really excellent value for London. Room was small but fine and it was clean. TV wasn't up to much and couldn't get any Freeview Channels at all. Breakfast was fine .. serve yourself to cereal, drinks, toast, fruit etc. Very central location. All in all .... very good value.
