“Cheap but not cheerful!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

Excellent for Kings Cross/ St Pancras but wouldn't choose to stay here again. OK, it's cheapish price wise, but room cupboard size. One med. size towel each, no hand towel or bath mat. Tiniest of wardrobes. Staff not overly friendly or welcoming. Breakfast OK ish. I guess you get what you pay for but we've had better for the price.

We paid £80 for a room for the two of us for a night and so were realistic about what we would get.

The welcome was excellent and the room acceptable - we were on the ground floor and, as it was a warm day, we were a bit concerned about how hot it would be but the outside was a courtyard so we were able to open the window.

The location is superb for St Pancras - we were booked on the 7am Eurostar so we did not get to try breakfast. I really could not recommend this for more than the purpose for which we used it but it served our purpose perfectly and I would recommend it from that point of view

You need to remember how cheap it is - especially compared to the chains in this area. Yes, it does need some TLC and money spent on it but we would use it again and we are old!

We were a group of five. We booked 2 three-bedded rooms, I'd recommend the rooms on upper floors as they are cleaner, more spacious and nicer. The staff are friendly, they tend to please and the food is OK. Our English breakfast was a bit of a combination - instead of proper fried tomatoes they served warm pelatti, which I think is innapropriate. It'd be best not to serve it at all if they can't afford to buy fresh tomatoes.Mushrooms were also missing, but the rest was OK. You can eat as much you want, so that's not a problem.

What we really appreciated is a fanatastic location, right opposite the King's Cross station, with excellent bus and Tube connections.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms are nicer, bigger and cleaner.

The photos on line are not what what we got.

We arrived at 9.00pm, our room had been booked several weeks in advance. The fellow on reception was ok, didn't speak a lot really. Gave us our key and told us we were on the third floor and to use the stairs past reception. The stairs directly opposite the front door were in darkness.
Made our way to our room ( no lifts and stair well very small). Room very small for two ppl.
Room was clean , strong smell of bleach. Bathroom very tiny, only two bath towels, no mat or hand towel. Soap provided, no shampoo or conditioner.
There was a stair well opposite our room, leading downstairs, which we used next morning, it was daylight so could be used safely.
Breakfast was ok, staff were no where in sight.
Not really worth what was charged for the night, on the plus side it was close to Kings Cross and St a Pancras which was why we booked there.
It was quiet after about 10.30pm, lots of door banging before that.

It might depend on the room you get.
Mine was the worse room I have ever stayed in a hotel. It was very small.Only enough space for a bed and to make 3 steps from the door to reach the bed. I have never seen something like that.
Many more problems arose. The noise didnt let me sleep at all for two nights. Just writing so that you are aware of what to expect.
Try to check the room before you pay.

The location is indeed great, however, next time I would go for another hotel in the area.

Everything people have said is true. If you don't want to sleep stay here. Tea and coffee bags are supplied and when reception was asked for milk the guy behing the counter said " No, no milk"
Enough said.

Room Tip: Put another £50 towards it and go somewhere else. It's worth it.
