“Great hostel, great staff, definitely recommend to everyone!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Having never stayed in hostels I was very apprehensive about staying at Generator Hostel in London, but I shouldn't have worried. Everything from the rooms, amenities, staff and the ambiance of the hostel was great. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be staying here again!

I would like to give a special mention to the bar manager Lubo, who was really great in helping us with information regarding things to do and just a great guy in general who was always available for a chat and poured a great drink!!

What a nightmare - and so expensive! They make you go up and down these old shaky stairs in the back late at night and the staff are quite scary and aggressive and the halls are filled with drunks, and not nice drunks. There's a lot of false cheeriness from everybody at the front desk but the place is so crowded, for five pounds extra we could've got a nice place at Cartwright Gardens around the corner don't waste your money! Really! This place is a big mistake!

Room Tip: Don't go there! Nice hotels right round corner at same price or just a bit more!

Myself and 6 of my friends stayed here for three nights over the Wimbledon final weekend.

The generator was brilliant. Fantastic location (only 5 minute walk to Russell Square underground, or a 10 minute walk to Euston Station). Inside it was very cool and had a good buzz about it. The bar was cheap, by London standards, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and we'll maintained (just about all the time).

My only complaint would be a room for 8 people only had 4 power sockets.

We would stay here again easily and recommend you should as well if you are looking for a well equipped hostel in a good location.

I nested in Generator Hostel for 4D3N and it was totally wonderful. The staffs are great and friendly, the design of the hostel is awesomely cool. It's a 5 Mins walk from Russel Square. I love the location, it's so easy to get to anywhere you want. The good thing is that the hostel provides tight security at a certain timing, especially when the sun comes down. Lots of great food around there. For those muslims, not to worry, there are a few of halal certified restaurants nearby the hostel. The room is great, love the beds. One thing to note is that, there is no air conditioner. But i assume the hostel provides fan when the weather gets hot. I will definitely stay in Generator Hostel again in my upcoming visit!

I visited this hostel in July and found the location good and the hostel with a great vibe and atmosphere. The hostel has its own bar so we never needed to go out. There's a few drawbacks. Its pricey and a little dark. Breakfast is meager. Overall I recommend this hostel to friends staying in london who want to party:)

I stayed as a single in a private room. It was clean and basic. However the shower was scolding hot, no cold water and when I complained they unblocked the drain and said the bathroom was fine. Excellent location, right near the tube and felt safe at night. Breakfast not worth it, huge line and only rolls, cereals etc. get it from nearby cafés. I would have been better off staying in a cheap hotel as many large groups of young people staying here.

We had a late group of ladies booked in for a hen weekend and we had booked out an area of the bar. There was some miscommunication and the bar area hadn't been arranged. However, the very awesome bar manager pulled out all the stops for us. The food was so lovely and there was a lot of it! We all had a fruity cocktail named for the bride and they helped us decorate and move everything to a quieter area later on in the evening. The rooms were great, we had one toilet in our area to share between 5 dorms and it stunk but the large shower and toilet area further up the corridor were clean. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this as a great place to stay if you are organising a cheap trip to London. PS did I say the bar manager rocks!
