“Indescribably horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Stuck in London overnight, this was the cheapest thing going - but still very pricey. I'm quite unable to articulate the horror the memory of this place still creates for me, so I'll stick to facts: the hotel was in fact Topham Hotel some 5 or 6 doors down the street. My room was in the basement, it stunk of sewage. The windows did not lock and the room was accessible from the street. The mattress was thin and springs stuck out. The bed clothes were damaged and ripped in places. In the morning the toilet overflowed and water covered the bathroom floor, stinking like the stench in the room generally. Breakfast was poor and the staff utterly unapologetic for the hideous experience I described to them. I left feeling somehow violated. It should be illegal to sell accommodation this vile.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else, this place is disgusting.

On arrival we had to check in at another hotel up the road and then led to the basement of this hotel! It had a bathroom in what can only be described as a 'lean too' and t felt unsafe with no telephone. We went back to complain and allocated a room on the 3rd floor in the Topham Hotel with a shared bathroom and double bed - we had paid £130 for a twin room - not what we wanted. No kettle, no mirror, no hair dryer and no curtains!

Room Tip: Room 6 in the Topham Hotel is the one shwon on the internet!

Please whatever you do, do not stay in this horrible place. I was booked in by my work for three nights but I bearly managed one and only then because we arrived at 1am after work and there was no other option. The place smelled disgusting and the room was dirty and unkempt. Five hours of broken sleep later I have never been so glad to leave somewhere in my life!!

We booked this wile visiting the Chelsea Flower Show. The place is appalling, damp and dingy. We were first offered a room with a shower in a cupboard, with damp stains on the ceiling and the wall. When we complained, we were offered a room in the basement. The bathroom had a frosted glass door, but the room itself had no window. The whole place smelled of drains! There was no wardrobe or drawers. There were exposed electrical wires hanging from the ceiling. When we complained again (and mentioned Environmental Health!), we were moved to the sister hotel, Tophams, which was so much nicer. The staff are fully aware of all the problems but seem unable to resolve them.

i could not believe the smell was it drains ??? & i was expected to carry my case up 5 flights of stairs not good when you are 62yrs old, the tophams hotel seemed clean & breakfast was ok but we only had 1 included in a 2 night deal how odd. never had that before & ive stayed in lots of different types of hotels but this was the worst of its kind so in future i will check trip advisor before i book anywhere ever again so dont have to smell anything like that againit was just the most dreadful dreadful place

i can only agree with all the other Reviews.. dont stay here. There is no reception, no security, doors do actually not lock when you shut them, an absolute nogo. A small smelly stairway where wall paper hangs down on the ceiling leads to rooms, that yeah, actually do look like the Pictures.. only lipstick on a pig kinda way. dirty, appalling, badly refurbished. I was shocked when I saw the room, especially as the room is described as Boutique.

the wireless didn't work.

somehow this Hotel hasnt even got a reception, and is managed by topham Hotel, and they were kind enough to find me a room in their hotel, and I did have a very pleasant stay there.

booked another hotel via Travel Republic but they booked us in for the wrong date so went to check in and was informed of THEIR error. we then rang up travel republic and they at first wanted US to pay for another hotel, when we refused as this was their error they decided to book us into this hotel (where they ensured us it was a 3 star hotel with a DOUBLE room)- however this was not the case. looked the hotel up and read reviews- it is a skanky not even worthy of a hostel description, wouldn't even advise rats to live there. the supposed hotel does not even have a reception so had to check in via Tophams hotel which is much more worthy of a 3 star. we informed Tophams of our situation and they empathised with us as this trip was to celebrate my 18th birthday with my boyfriend and offered us a room at their hotel which saved my weekend. definitely stay away from both Belgravia Mews and Travel Republic. I cannot understand how they can get away with doing this to people, that's more disgusting than the hotel itself.

Room Tip: stay away from this hotel. health and safety not even considered. don't book!!!!!
