We took our son for his 13th bday. He his a DR fan, plus we were leaving for Ireland the next day... so this was perfect. Although it was strange for our son to see DR as anything but Harry Potter, especially in a role which makes you so uncomfortable to watch, it also opened his eyes to see DR as an actor.
We all really enjoyed the play. The cast is superb, and actually out-performs DR in their Irish dialect and projection for a playhouse. It has it's dark parts, but we laughed a lot and have been quoting the play ever since.
After curtain, we rushed out behind the theater to the stage door where DR came out for about 5 minutes of autographs and photos. But we got nowhere near him. We learned people wait as early as 5pm to be in front. Once people got autographs, they didn't move out and let others come forward... rather selfish. We could tell DR did not enjoy this rude crowd, but to his credit was gracious during the time he was out.
