“Superb real ale pub in the heart of London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Situated near to Charing X station but just hidden from view off The Strand this place is an absolute gem.

Run by a proper landlady and her ultra efficient but friendly mainly female staff this place serves 8 real ales in tip-top condition and the fact that this place is always bustling with punters is testament to this.

Workers flood in after work and stay usually until around 9pm and are treated to a changing rosta of real ales with Hophead and Harveys Best being "always" beers.

There's really nice sauage butties for those who need sustenance and a really great cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Rightly awarded National CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2012.

“Sausage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

This place is just behind my place of work, the best pub in London by far, with fantastic hand pulled pints with regular beers Dark Star, Harvey's, Wandle. Standing room only usually. They serve sausages at lunch time in French bread. But if I say sausage, it's sausages like wild boar, Cumberland. There is a reason this has won CAMRA pub of the. This how an English pub is, was and should be.

“Excellent, friendly pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Popped into here before an evening concert at St Martin in the Fields. Standing room only, even in the overspill room upstairs. True free house; eight real ales on handpump. Ordered Palmers (Bridport, Dorset) and Harvey's (Lewes, Sussex). Both excellent. They even came looking for us to check all OK, as the Harvey's was on the end of the barrel. Awesome collection of pumpclips on display.

“drinks only”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

A taxi driver recommended this place for pre-theatre drinks. Thank you!! the atmosphere was buzzing and never been to a PUB which served such good quality wine. The bar staff really knew their stuff and remembered our order on more than one visit to the bar including after we had been to the theatre and returned nearly three hours later. Super place well worth a visit.
