“Excellent location, great value for money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We came to London in a very busy week - lots of rock concerts and events. Besides the perfect location near the "Notting Hill Gate" station (0.5 minute walk!!!!), we liked the modern design and the cleanness of the rooms. We were at the ground floor heading to the back side, so the we enjoyed a real silence.

Thank you for the great and generous team, we'll surely come back!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

We stayed at 3 different hotels on our trip to England and I would rate Pembridge Gardens as an average experience. I am not saying it was bad, but there was simply nothing outstanding about it.

Pros:
- Location, location, location. Steps away from the Tube station, and very close to Hyde Park. At the same time, there was lots of construction going on (seem like this was the case all over London in general). I think the area would have been a lot more visually appealing if this wasn't the case
- Clean, cozy rooms. Stocked kitchen. We thought that the rooms were comfortable and nicely set up. We didn't cook full on meals, but did eat breakfast in the room which was nice. There is a Tesco grocery store minutes away, so we bought some breakfast food there and enjoyed nice healthy morning meals at "home".
- Free WiFi. Connection was reliable and decently fast.

Cons:
- Early check in fees at a whopping 10 pounds per hour! We arrived about 1 pm pretty much exhausted from travel. Given that check in time was only 2 hours later, surely we thought they'd let us into the room early. Well they did, but they charged us for it! I travel a lot all over the world and I've never heard of such practices before. None of the other hotels during our stay did that. If the room ready, why not let us in and have a delighted customer in return. That really rubbed me the wrong way because it just felt like we were being "nickel and dimed" by this place trying to make a quick buck. The website lists a bunch of different extra fees they charge and early check in isn't one of them. Conveniently there is a disclaimer that there may be other fees that are not listed which I guess this is one of them.
- Shower/bathroom. The apartment is tiny which translates to a tiny shower/toilet area. The shower is definitely not a common "american" configuration, and it took some getting used to. It wasn't anything we couldn't deal with, just really not something we are accustomed to using. The shower is basically separated by half a glass wall from the toilet. There is no border or any type of barrier between the shower and where the toilet is, so water goes everywhere over the entire surface of the floor. You are provided a "squeegee" broom of sorts that you use afterwards to clean up the water on the floor and steer it into the drain. You basically end up with a wet floor afterwards which is unpleasant but not horrible.

Overall, we thought the stay was fine. The cons weren't negative enough to not stay here again, although it probably won't be our first choice. If bigger rooms come with better bathroom/shower, it's probably worth paying a little more.

Dear Veraz,

I would first like to thank you for taking the time to review our property.

I am grateful for your positive comments regarding the location, rooms and facilities.

We are lucky enough to be situated in a fantastic neighbourhood within minutes from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station and grocery stores. Furthermore, we have tried to utilise the rooms to the fullest by providing as much space as possible (diferent for each room type) and have managed to equip them with kitchenette facilities.

Moreover, it is always nice to hear constructive cirtisism and I will discuss the early arrival charge with the rest of the management team. Unoftunately, there is a window of time in which the room needs to be emptied and remade.

Regarding the shower configuration, our round the clock reception staff will always be more than happy to help ressolve any queries.

I will pass on the comments about the wet room shower to the maintenece team to see if there is any resolution that they can come up with.

Once again thank you for reviewing our hotel, I am sure that we will take on board your comments and improve for any future stays.

Warm regards

Mark

Great place to stay when seeing the center of London because it is very near the Notting Hill Tube and city bus stops. The tourist bus tours have a stop there too, so you can purchase a pass to hop on and off. It's a charming, classic building, updated enough to be comfortable without being too modern. Feels like a quiet residential neighborhood.
The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable, giving us local tips and directions.
A great value, it's better than a hotel and less expensive. Can walk to the green spaces in an easy distance. We liked this spot!

Room Tip: We enjoyed a room facing the front street; higher floors are no problem since there is a lift and st...

Booked (at a good price) for location as ideal for Wimbledon tennis and also weekend in London. Lovely quiet street one minute walk from Tube. Very attractive building and spotlessly clean foyer and lifts. Friendly, helpful staff and apartment well equipped with nice wet room and kitchen. Much better than staying in a traditional hotel. Have already recommended Pembridge Gardens to friends and family. Will definitely stay here again (if the price is right!)

Me and boyfriend had booked tickets to see the lion king for the weekend, and this hotel was on trivago for a very cheap price! so rushed to book it! after reading about the reviews for the basement rooms not being very good, i was very nervous when i saw the man press -1 on the lift. However once entering room i really didnt understand the bad reviews, yes we had no view but who cares! Thats the luck of the draw and it was cheap and only for one night! the room was spotless and spaceus and staff were very helpful and friendly! Even when we came back to collect our luggage after a day of cycling around london we hot and sweaty and even tried to find us a a spare room to have a shower! the location was perfect i couldnt of asked for a better hotel! the only downside was how thin the walls were and someone started cooking at midnight and we could hear pots and pans being shuffled around

Room Tip: if you want cheap you will get a basement floor, so if you want a view book a more expensive room

Very nice hotel but it was hard to sleep with children running up and down the corridor every night of our week stay. Also the testing ( fire alarm and pat testing) was very inconvenient. We hoped for a relaxing stay. Also we were provided with a faulty kettle which leaked profusely on to the kitchen top and floor, this was very dangerous but when it came to our attention it was replaced but this should of been checked previously.

Dear Nicky B,

Thank you for reviewing your stay at 10 Pembridge Gardens.

I apologise for the defect kettle that was in your room, and I will follow this up with the maintenance team. However, I am glad that it was replaced when complained about.

Unfortunately, we as a hotel have an obligation to ensure that fire and PAT testing are done during a given period. Although we did our utmost to complete the testing with minimal inconvenience to the guests, it was unavoidable on certain occasions.

Furthermore, I will make sure that the staff working throughout the night know that a level of noise from guests that would disrupt another guest would be monitored and resolved.

Thank you for the review that you left and I sincerely hope to welcome you back to 10 Pembridge Gardens in the near future.

Warm Regards

I spent four days in Pembridge garden sito my bus and and my 3 old child. We rent a executive studio. The room is large and comfortable, the kitchen fully furnished and parcati al. The position colse to nottimg hill gate is perfect. It is allo close to Portobello road. The only thing i would suggest to improve is the cleaning of the room (every 3 days)
We will of course come back in Pembridge for out next journey to London.
