Description: Hi all yet again The Hidden Gem receives 100% score on all recent Mystery Diner Score for early 2014. Now hitting the headlines and rated one of the top traditional drinking and dining outlets in London. This place is a 'must'. The fire is crackling away...Ales racked and ready...Wine uncorked and perfect temperature and the stock pot simmering away and of course Vicki and the team are itching to serve you and your best friends. This place is truly a nostalgic hideaway in Hammersmith's Brackenbury Village, and is truly 'London's Hidden Gem'. The Andover Arms W6 brings charming pub hospitality to a well-heeled West London. The menu alters daily to reflect the best fresh available produce, and a constantly evolving wine list is matched to the flavours of the season. Crackling open fire, sprawling Persian rugs and Edwardian portraits are dotted through the dining areas and throughout the pub, while a glossy mahogany bar is lined with The Andover's extensive stock of fine seasonal real ales, lagers and an array of other treats.Where else would you want to spend a chilly Autumn/winter evening ?. The Andover Arms owner Tom Gavaghan prides himself on Service and high standards always sur-passing the competition and your own expectations. Quirky in style and traditional in 1870's' nature. A real Gem. The show always goes on at The Andover Arms. Not to be missed. Its The 8th Wonder of the World. Traditional...Comforting...Homely...Safe...Nostalgic...Different...Quirky...Seasonal...Inviting...Tasteful...Friendly...Respectful...Honest...

“Sunday lunch accompanied by Rugby Union”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

Can there be a finer way to spend a Spring Sunday afternoon in London. A scrumptious half shoulder of lamb (with all the trimmings) plus the rugby on tv unobtrusively. I am a "regular" and the beer and food quality is always A1. Add the warm friendly service to the mix - superb!

“Great food, friendly staff, lovely little pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Went here with friends due to the great reviews and were not disappointed. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it had a wonderful atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming and very helpful when recommending food and wine.

The food was really tasty with nice wine too (we had the Malbec). Skate wing was delicious, though could have benefitted from a little kale or extra veg. Chocolate brownie was huge and great for sharing.

My only criticisms would be that it was a little on the expensive side (came to £200 for 3 starters, 4 mains, 1 dessert and 3 bottles of £25 wine) but it certainly wasn't extortionate and the quality was really good.

Also, the choice on the menu was very red meat-orientated. We would have liked to have seen a chicken option on there and maybe a second veggie choice too.

But all in all a great find and will certainly return.

“The Best Gastro pub in London..... I say so..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Having worked so close to Andover Arms for the last year, it was about time that i take to trip advisor to share what can only be described as the best gastro pub in London.

The first moment you step in to the Andover you are welcomed with a smile and warmth that is extremely hard to find in London.

The place hosts a log fire (always on the go) as well as hosting a great collection of beers, ales and wine.

Now for the best bit......

The food is without question first class, the choice of menu is rusty but not too over the top, with classic's like fish & chips, homemade burger, pork belly (please bring it back!!!) and the prices are without question extremly reasonable.

No matter if you live in London or are visiting from aboard, or are staying overnight for business, the place you need to visit alongside the London Eye, Harrods & Oxford Street is the Andover Arms.

A pure & true classic, that is not too missed either for lunch or for the evening.

Thank you for continuing to be first class.

“Incredible food and SO welcoming!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Having seen the other reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to book a table to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

Tucked away in a residential street we finally found The Andover Arms and, upon entering, were welcomed with open arms. We were shown to a cosy candlelit corner table and our hostess (Vicki?) apologised for the level of noise as QPR fans had dropped in after the game. There was no need for the apology as the noise was just part of the ambience. We immediately felt at ease and relaxed. I can recommend a pint of Bengal Lancer although sadly it was off after we'd had one pint. Mind you, the London Pride was nearly as good.

The service was awesome and Vicki(?) remembered where we'd travelled from which made us feel very special and appreciated.

The food was amazing - quite possibly the best meal I've had. I had coconut crusted prawns with a soy chilli syrup followed by pan fried fillet of Mahi Mahi (dolphin fish) with asparagus, new potatoes and a garlic cream sauce.

My Husband had the Duck Rilet with spiced red onion jam and toasted bread followed by Rosemary & garlic roasted half a shoulder of Lamb with sautéed vegetables and minted gravy (which was HUGE). We both had the Lemon and Ginger crumb tart with lemon and basil cream (although DH failed to finish his huge portion).

I had an Amaretto coffee to finish while DH opted for a pint of Butcombe Rarebreed ale. Neither of us was disappointed.

It was such a relaxed, wonderful evening and we were made to feel incredibly welcome and valued. Thank you so much for an amazing evening.

“Great gastro pub, hidden in the village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

West London is full of these little villages, that are tucked away from the main streets and offer hidden jewels to the more adventurous wanderers. The Andover Arms has the country side feel of a remote pub, with its fireplace, armchairs, etc. But it is very much in the heart of London. The menu offered the expected pub food, but with a serious addition of more sophisticated options that can delight any foodies. The fish and chips was the size of a trout; the cold meat board to share was enough to stuff us with delightful tastes; the seared scallops were beautifully set up in their plates... A delight for your eyes and stomach.
