This chain now has a dozen or more restaurants on London and they are clearly doing very well. Here's the reason why: extreme portion control and charging for everything they can. My moules mariniere starter for £6.95 had no more than 8 mussels in it! As anyone who eats these knows, one or two will be firmly shut and you should not attempt to eat these, so that left me with only 6. This is verging on extortion and not even a piece of bread to soak up the sauce. The sauce by the way had cream in it and was lovely, but this would make the dish 'moules a la normande' and not the 'moules mariniere' I ordered from the menu. All sides are chargeable but the prices for the mains are still as high as other places that throw in the sides. This is a low marketing trick and should be frowned upon. The meal we had was essentially simple French fayre like cassoulet to an ordinary standard not really conducive with the high prices. The wine is similarly very highly priced with a blue top Provencal rose at over 25 pounds. All that said, the Bulgarian waitress was absolutely lovely. Faultless service, but extremely bad value. Go to nearby Prix Fixe for a much better deal.
