We didn't want to try this during the Olympics so we left it till the next time. Despite being half term, it was absolutely dead! There was no need to share your cable car with anyone who wasn't in your party and this meant you could enjoy the journey better. We had oyster cards and so have no idea how much it cost us. But using the oyster card meant we skipped straight past the queue and onto the next available cable car without waiting. The views, for me, were not spectacular as there are no famous monuments or major historical buildings in this area. But I did enjoy the journey and it was certainly a different way to start the day. On a practical level though, the Royal Victoria DLR station was not obvious once we disembarked and it was very difficult to get a train from there as we discovered that despite looking like there was a direct line on the map, it wasn't direct, and we were made to get off half way and change trains, which confused us. People would be more likely to use the cable car if it was a bit more accessible at both ends. It doesn't take long to corss the Thames, so people will want to make a quick get away to their next port of call when they disembark.
