“Great place to watch sports”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

The Vanbrugh is a great little pub and one I would class as my local.

The food is good for the price of it and there is a great selection of craft beer on tap and in bottles.

It is a very funky place inside with a lot of cool art for sale on the walls and great marquee area out the back.

Watching Football and Rugby is great here as it is never crowded and has a friendly atmosphere.

Good plae for Sunday Roast as well.

Also pub is open until about 1am which is good as most of the pubs close well before then in Greenwich.

“Excellent local Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

If I'm ever visiting friends in the area on a weekend we'll definitely have a roast here on a Sunday. Good food, service and atmosphere - especially in the patio garden.

“Have I finally found my local?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Really decent, friendly local pub with food that is fine, good quality and beer that's great. It's away from tourist Greenwich which is pleasant and it's really a bit of a TARDIS - much bigger than it first appears and with a nice area out back. And even without "no obvious handbag security measures" (!?) I felt perfectly secure and left with my manbag intact...

“Vanbrugh Pub”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Was once a great little boozer however it is possibly the coldest pub in Greenwich. Glum staff and a landlady verging on rude; a possible connection there.
Food is good but burgers frequenlty bland and rubbery.
Prices reasonable, so you get what you pay for.
The access is poor for wheelchairs and buggies with an uneven footpath at the entrance. The double doors are narrow with one door usually locked. Make an appointment if you have mobility issues. The toilet floor is frequently wet in an unpleasant way, with inadequate floor tile selection. The bar access has oversized tables and a very narrow passageway which lends to an unwelcomeing restricted approach but widens furhter into the building.
There were no obvious handbag security measures so keep your belongings close to hand or by your feet.
Pleasant rear space for smokers but again this route has steps to the garden.
All in all, disappointing when measured against the choice in the greater Greenwich area but reasonable for the area.

“Great food - simple, to the point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Great service. Simple selections of well prepared food. The ice cream is FANTASTIC. The wine choices rock and the place has enough breaks in the pub to be in the bar watching the footy, which is a different experience from sitting out back, which is different from eating in the more "restaurant" section. All have a distinct feel that doesn't step on one another. Cool place, and cool people working there too.
