Just come back from a short break in London, where we chose to stay at this hotel for the price and proximity to an Underground station.
Booked through Booking.com for a family room for 3 nights including breakfast. Arrived to find the reception staff had gotten the price mixed up and tried charging me £27 more than I booked it for, but upon showing my booking confirmation it was quickly rectified by the pleasant, attentive staff on reception.
The room was pretty much standard Premier Inn fayre, clean, spacious and modern. The bathroom included a full size bath which other Premier Inn's don't always have. The beds were big and comfortable, and a selection of pillows were provided. It could get a little stuffy overnight but turning the climate control down to 19 or 20 degrees C sorted that out. Room was cleaned every day and towels changed every 2nd day. The ONLY criticism that I have with the room (and indeed the whole hotel) was that there wasn't enough storage space for clothes for a family of 3 for 3 nights, but we coped.
Breakfast was again, typical for a Premier Inn, lots of choice, and decent grub to start you off for a long day around London. The staff couldn't help you enough, always asking if you were OK, if you needed anything cooking that was made to order, if you needed anything else. Regarding the restaurant we didn't eat there at night so we didn't experience any problems (breakfast service was great) but people giving the whole hotel a 2 and 3 star rating because they had one bad experience in the restaurant then saying the hotel is nice??? Come on, be fair!
We used the Tube to get to and from Central London and the station is a 10 minute walk away down a well lit main road through Richmond (which is a decent area), and there is always a Tube train waiting there for you. Richmond Station is in Zone 4 so a day ticket is £8, unlimited journeys zones 1-4.
I have stayed in several Premier Inns up and down the UK, and they are all good, and I know this one is pretty new, but I think this is the best yet. It doesn't get a 5 purely for the mistake at check in (which again, was quickly rectified), and the lack of storage space in the room for a 3 night stay, other than that it was perfect for us, and would absolutely stay again.
We stayed at the back not facing the road and had no noise issues whatsoever, but the road is not so...
