We (34 yr old married couple, 2.5 yr old son, 54 yr old grandmother) just spent 3 great nights at this hotel.
It was exactly as portrayed on the hotel's website. ( We booked through LONDONTOWN.com. It was easy and informative highly recommended). We had a Quad room-3beds(2singles, and a double which was really 2 singles together--KING size!) Much more room than I was expecting, even floor space, closet, dressers. Lots of room for our suitcases, stroller, etc.
Location was literally a 2-3 min walk to/from Paddington tube station, provided you come out of station at PRAED Street, not the other side....big mistake upon arrival--we hauled 4 suitcases, hand luggage, stroller, & a 2yr old 15 min out of the way due to this error!
The staff at the hotel were generally very pleasant and helpful with the exception of the night desk who wouldn't arrange my taxi for 4:30 am until I insisted. and then the 4:00 wakeup call that DIDN'T happen...nearly missed train to Paris! Strongly recommend bringing an alrm clock as there is NO CLOCK in the room.
Accomodations were nice, comfortable, Shower was very hot, good water pressure. I know some on this site are concerned about tea/coffee and this was available in the room, but we didn't use it. I wish ice was available since our 2 yr old's milk had to be purchased daily, and thrown out due to lack of refrigeration. For American travellers, there are no washcloths "flannels" to be found(apparently in all of London's hotels) and we got extra hand towels instead, without any trouble.
There is no AC but that wasn't a problem since there was a stand fan and it was cool at night- very large windows on 1st floor open right to the top. No screen/safety bars so I was a little nervous about my 2 yr old though....some may be disturbed by slight street noise/lights, but we were too tired to notice for long. The room was supposed to be non-smoking and didn't smell(I'm very sensitive to it), however there was an ashtray... and all bedding was non-allergenic(no wool, no feathers) which Grandma needed due to allergies/asthma.
English breakfast was perfect for the English father, but American mother/grandma didn't like it (here or anywhere) due to dislike of foods served, but continental breakfast was good though. Plenty of toast, cereal, coffee, milk, juice. We did sleep through 2 breakfasts due to jet lag ...
Cleanliness rates about an 8 out of 10. slight dust behind dressers, in corners, cobwebs in widow sills. Carpet seemed maintained. Grandma had trouble flushing the toilet (all over London) so don't think plumbing is an issue for most
I spent approximately 10 hrs reasearching hotels, locations, prices, etc and comparatively, the room was an excellent value and we would stay there again without question.
