“Excellent hotel, ok location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

CitizenM Hotels are excellent. This is the second one that my wife and I have stayed in (Amsterdam City being the other). The layout of the rooms are super practical and efficient. If modern things scare you, stay elsewhere!

Comfort: I have found no bed more comfortable in all of Europe than the beds at CitizenM (even more comfortable than beds at the Ritz Carlton!). You control the room temp. Shower is a wonderful "rain shower" that is relaxing at the end of a long day. It was easy to fall asleep because the room was completely silent (except for the night that the fire alarm went off) and completely dark (two layers of blinds keep all outside light out).

Clean: The room was clean when we got there and clean each day when we came back. The entire hotel is very clean.

Location: Hmm, this is why I give CitizenM at Bankside a 4/5 and not a 5/5. The location is ok but has no character. It is in a business area which has no charm or any of that "London" feel an American tourist may be looking for. The nearest tube station is Southwark on the Jubilee line. It is about a five minute walk between the tube and hotel. I'd suggest doing a quick Google Map search to find the walking path to make any traveling with luggage less stressful (when you exit the tube station, head towards the office building with a bit of overhang over the sidewalk and you are heading in the right direction). The Jubilee line never seemed to take us where we wanted to go and found that we needed to take about a twenty minute right with at least one change of trains to get to the big sights.

When I return to London, I will probably stay at CitizenM again. But, if location is my number one requirement, I would look elsewhere.

This is a fantastically well-designed hotel. The rooms are small, but smart, with very high-tech amenities to control air/lights/media. It feels like you are in a ship's cabin - tiny but sleek, with a wall-to-wall bed (great for couples, maybe not so fabulous for the elderly). The only drawback were the pillows which were a bit big and hard. Lobby is super-hip. I would stay here again in an instant.

The rooms are small by American Standards but we had just come off a cruise ship so in comparison they were quite comfortable. What makes this hotel outstanding are the people that work and run it. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. The business center is modern and well equipped. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent and quite economical for London. Although it
is on the Bankside we were able to get around London quickly and economically. Taxi ride directly to Buckingham Palace was only 10 pounds. I will be staying there again.

I wanted to stay here as a friend of mine said it was great fun and different. I arrived on a Thursday afternoon and the bar and lounge were packed with groups of people who were using the hotel more as a regular bar than a hotel lounge. It was cool and trendy with every nationality you could think off drinking and chatting. The check in was great, all touch screen so no waiting to be served etc. We also got a good deal on laterooms.com with almost £100 off per room price. The rooms are small!!! but have everything you would need. More than 2 nights stay and it would be a nightmare. Each room has its own tablet that works everything in it, the lights, tv, mood lighting etc. which was a brilliant idea. We didn't eat in the hotel except for breakfast so can not comment on the food but if its anything like the hotel I'm sure its great.

Room Tip: none of the rooms have a great view but if you want quiet chose one looking over the courtyard as th...

I hesitate to even write this review because I don't want the word to get out. This is a beautiful boutique hotel geared specifically at young, tech-savvy, global business travelers. The hotel is full of furniture from the Vitro museum in Switzerland and has the best branding of any hotel I've ever stayed at. It also has great rates compared to some of the other hotels in central London.

We stayed at this hotel for a piece of our honeymoon. The staff gave us a complimentary glass of champagne which was very thoughtful. Most of the staff we found to be very friendly and helpful.

The room itself was great with the tablet to control all room functions, the colorful shower, the blackout feature of the blinds...all was great!

Good location too, close enough to everything you want to go see but also still out of the action enough that you aren't in tourist central!

The only issue I would say was that, especially as we got towards the weekend, it attracted such a huge bar crowd that you didn't feel comfortable going down for a drink (the scene wasn't really what my husband and I prefer).

What a great start to our holiday, we stayed at Citizen M for 4 days mainly due to the good reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. The hotel has a real funky & friendly feel and the staff were eager to please. The rooms, although a little small, work really well and are automated through a tablet to control the lighting, heating, blinds & TV. The bed is huge and comfortable
Location is ideal for exploring London with Southwark tube only about 300 metres away.
We wouldn't hesitate staying here again. Great Work Citizen M.
