“Not sure, it was closed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We had a repaid booking and it was confirmed 2 weeks before via email from Sydneystreet grill. We get out of the taxi on Saturday and the place is closed. Let a message on their booking line, and still no reply. Thanks for letting us know, NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

“Have a steak somewhere else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

I came to Sydney Street Grill to celebrate my mother's birthday, during April 2013 and experienced such exquisite service, both from the waiters and the evening shift manager. My mother had haddock, and I had a steak, the food was lovely, and the staff made it extra special by writing happy birthday in chocolate on the dessert. It was a very ambient, comfortable experience.
However... I have since returned to the Sydney Street Grill, and have not been impressed by organisation, food or lack of service. I have also learnt that the service charge you pay on the bill does not go to any staff members, but directly to the company. This is 12.5 percent and you should enquire about this when you eat there. If you however decide to leave a cash tip, once service is removed, I am told the cash tip is then put back on as the service charge you removed!
Strange how in a matter of months, service, food and atmosphere can go so downhill (maybe your staff turnover is a reason for this).
Will not be returning.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

We booked this through Buy-a-Gift so did wonder if we would get a good meal or a great meal...we were not disappointed as the food was superb, cooked to perfection with great depth of flavours with the sauces for the steaks just sublime!
Every course of our meal was just first class, can't recommend highly enough.

“Good staff, but a little disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Took advantage of a Time Out voucher whilst having a weekend in London and went Sunday lunchtime. Was an early lunch and only one other couple were there when we arrived although it did fill up a bit more later. That said I would not like to go if it was full unless part of a big party. The only fish item on the menue was sea bass but that was not available even though we were early. That said after expressing disappointment the staff did eventually come back and offer sole as an alternative; that was after ordering red wine that had arrived but even this was replaced without quibble. Little things let it down, vinegar served in the off the shelf bottle and no fork given with the sticky toffee desert being examples. Enjoyed the food but nothing exceptional.

“Very poor value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Only two tables were occupied all lunchtime. The food was passable but not good at all. About the worst all round experience of any quality restaurant I have visited in London and I have frequent business lunches. The service was friendly but quite slow given we were about the only guests. Pre-lunch G&T was weak and mostly ice. Stay away!
