“Fab, cool, trendy london hotel!”

From start to finish this hotel excelled! Service is phenomenal. I phoned to find out best way to get from waterloo station to the hotel. They took me thru the options and I decided taxi was the best and easiest way whilst carrying luggage. Taxi was booked at a good rate not metered. On arrival the great service continued. Room was of good service with lots of useful touches. Modern trendy bar. Good recommendations for local cheap dinner. Sleep quality good. A lot of big chains could learn from this hotel. Would definitely re book if i need to be in this area of london again.

They're a bit of an enigma, these ACE Hotels. They select locations in the vibrant, off centre, alternative parts of big cities, absorb it, and pretend to be part of it. Yes, it's "corporate concept". It's marketing. But it's done so well, you can believe it. It feels like ACE belongs there, and ACE Shoreditch is no exception. So you end up in a pretty good hotel, attracting mostly the young and creative, but I"ve seen families and seniors just the same.
It's a great location, unless you insist on the "royal London feel". You get the same qualities as with any 4* hotel, but with a different look 'n feel, and a easy atmosphere. It's all the better for it.

There were construction works while I was staying. And I was only informed about that after I completed the booking. Don't like that. But staff were very friendly to help me out.

Bonus points for a (small) gym but with dumbells up to 40kg.

Room Tip: Turntable in some rooms. Fun, and a decent player, but crappy sound because of the connection with t...

Our family of four spent a week here this summer. We chose the Ace primarily for it's location in Shoreditch. This isn't the typical tourist area - it's not in walking distance to Big Ben or The British Museum. But there is a variety of restaurants and shopping that can't be beat. Liverpool Station is nearby for the Tube, but we used the bus as our primary means of getting around town. Our family is fine with the more urban vibe of the neighborhood and the hotel (some probably won't be). On the weekend the streets and lobby were busy with nightlife. But the sounds did not reach out bedroom on the 4th floor. Staff was very friendly and the hotel is very clean and up-to-date. We booked our room early and paid in advance which locked us in, but also saved us a lot. At about £200 per night for a room with two double beds, we felt we were getting good vale.

A business trip for one night organised by our supplier.
Great 'fun' room took a little getting used to. A lot of merchandise and price lists in the room added to its quirky nature.
Free wifi, great bed, and fantastic breakfast in a relaxed restaurant.
Staff service level all adds up to 5/5

We stayed at the ACE for three nights and we enjoyed every minute. We travelled with our 8 month-old daughter and it turned out that the ACE is a perfect place to hand out with a LO. Staff was very helpful, the room clean and spacious. Make sure you book a room on the upper floors and to Shoreditch High Street to have a view. Breakfast is plenty and public transport super-convenient with busses just in front of the hotel. Some of the best small hip stores are just around the corner. Will definitly return.

As there are turntables and guitars in the room, make sure you like music and local brewed beer.

Room Tip: rooms on the Shoreditch Hightstreet side have better view

This is a "twenty-something" hotel - that's the good news and the bad news. Good, if you're a septuagenarian like me and curious about the social behavior of the generations behind me (I am), bad if the "oh so kool" attitude is a bit off-putting. However, my room itself was quiet and comfortable, and the restaurant food quite good. Somehow the manager discovered I was there to celebrate my birthday and presented me with a complimentary bottle of wine - a most appreciated gesture. The staff is first rate, loved them all. However, either I look young or they treat everybody as if they are "twenty something." Note to staff: there is a difference there are colloquial phrases we don't quite understand. I was, however, put off by the many items advertised for sale, both in the bathroom and in the bedroom. (see photo) It was as if I had been booked into my own personal travel shoppe. As other guests have noted, there was no complimentary hand-cream in the bathroom - it was for sale, of course! C'mon, Ace, that's an insult. Every hotel on the planet provides shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand-cream - why do I even have to mention this? Anyhow, bottom line, I did enjoy my stay at the Ace and would recommend it to others with the caveat that this is not your mother's hotel...

We were attending the Kerrang awards, and stayed in Shoreditch for the event.

I don't really know London, but I would definitely recommend this area; as it's got a lot of shops bars and food, and we went on a glorious day.

The Ace Hotel itself was an attractive boutique hotel that had spacious rooms with a comfy bed, a great shower (most important thing for me). The room would have been a little steep price-wise, but in terms of quality and service it would be worth it. Certainly recommended.

Room Tip: I only averaged the swimming pool and spa because I didn't know there was one!
