“Excellent stay for citytrip in London”

Good hotel. Good value for money. Nice staff. Very close to public transport. Excellent place to stay while visitoing London. Walking to the City and Westminster is very well possible. Would recommend this hotel.

Building was an old Council building and has architectural features and the sign to the entrance is a brass plaque.
On 5th floor had to walk up from 4th floor
Room (505) was very quiet
Functional and clean room ideal for business visit to London
Location near to Kings Cross for small restaurants and station
Continental breakfast offered only but McDonalds 3 mins walk away
Paid £155 for double room which is about standard rate

If you're having a few days in London to visit landmarks and see shows etc then the location of those hotel is perfect. A two minute walk to the station. However, the hotel itself isn't too great. We'd been here literally 5 minutes and the fire alarm went off and we were all made to stand outside in the cold for 40 minutes. It turns out It was an electrical fault in the room above ours! Hardly comforting at all...
We opted not have breakfast as we'd bought stuff to eat in the room so can't comment on the food.
Staff were friendly, can't fault them either.
However, a real downfall of the trip is that our bathroom absolutely reeked of sewage. We had to keep the window open at all times which is hardly ideal with trains going by every few minutes so it was pretty noisy. Disgusting. We didn't complain to reception because we were out sight seeing most of the day everyday, but at night time it was not at all ideal.

Friendly check in, nice big room, quiet (midweek, don't know about weekend, also I was right at the end of a corridor) and comfortable bed.

The trains going past my window and shaking the bed every five minutes don't worry me, I just tune them out. Also the meagre breakfast (toast, cereal, juice, croissant and muffin) was just perfect for me as that's all I try to have anyway, unless I am tempted by a bacon sandwich. It's £5.40, what do you expect?

I laughed when I asked for an ironing board at reception and one was pulled out from under the counter and I carried it back to my room. But that's no problem.

I've stayed in a lot worse places in London (one particular Hilton comes to mind) so I would recommend if you don't mind train noise. And it's very handy for transport links.

Very well placed for the station and getting to all the attractions.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the locality. You can just drop your bags at the hotel and get on with your break asap.

Stayed here for business - 5 nights. The hotel is basic and a little tired. My first room was in the basement so dark stuffy hot I went back to reception and the changed it. The second room - I thought was going to be great was at the front with a huge window facing the street. This would have been ok if the window was not broken open with the crazy traffic almost 24 hours going past. No sleep and very tired I got showered had breakfast packed my bag and went to reception to ask to swap rooms, reception were helpful and on my return that evening I got my 3rd room. This was standard but no internet connection. O well I managed to sleep at least.

Room Tip: Take earplugs

Have stayed at this hotel once before, as it is very convenient for Eurostar St Pancreas. On this occasion our room was on the back of hotel, but unfortunately overlooking the railway - which meant trains running until 1am which then started again at 5am, so we only had quite time for a few hours. Nice hotel other than that, typical Travelodge.

Room Tip: If you want a restful night, ask for room not over looking train line.
