“Some rooms are quiet. Some are very noisy. Take earplugs in case.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

It's in an area of London that is starting to get a refurb. Also handy for the EuroStar from St Pancras.
We have just stopped twice. These visits were a week apart. Although the decorations have become a little tied both bed & shower rooms had been cleaned to a high standard. Every thing we used except the ceiling lights just inside the doors worked. This made it difficult to read the fire escape route map. ( We did not use the showers. )
One room did suffer from noise emanating from four busy train lines that run almost underneath the rear quarter of the building. These produce a lot of use which only stops during the middle of the night.
Security seems good. You need a valid key card to get to the stairs/lift & again to to get onto individual floors before reaching the room door.

Room 123 is on the rear quarter of the building which suffers from train noise. A week later we stopped for a couple of nights. This time in room 316. That room was very quiet. The ceiling light by the door did not work in either room. This made it difficult to read the fire escape route map. The heater in room 316 had a big dent in it & even turned right up did not get more than lukewarm.
We used the breakfast bar on one occasion. The two members of staff manning it were pleasant enough. But there concentration appeared to be on each other. This may have contributed to the shortage of cutlery.
Scores given are an average for both visits.

Very poor even for Travelodge standards. Motel standard. Sheets had not been cleaned - still had stains from previous sleepers.

The sirens constantly went off throughout the night since this part of town is a little rough. Quite a lot of hooligans and escorts nearby. It was completely overpriced - at 75 pounds a night! Over-priced cafe which didn't serve food.

Very close to King's Cross which is the only advantage. Better hotels nearby.

We stayed here for one night prior to catching the Eurostar. The lodge looks as if it has been recently refurbished and it was well presented with none of the shabbiness many older Travelodges have.

Check in was quick and our room number 410 was spotless. It overlooked an open section of the underground and railway noise is a problem up to 12pm and from 5.30am. We were really tired so it didn't trouble us but it could be an issue if staying for 3 or 4 days.

Travelodge are a budget chain and guests should bear this in mind when booking. If you want 5 star accomodation go pay 5 star prices. We paid £42 for a twin room in central London 200 yards from the main rail terminals. We had no issues whatsoever and would happily return to stay again

I stayed to nights here only because it was the London Fashion week and I couldn't get anything near to where I was required to be. The tube line was right below my window and the trains go on every couple of minutes to the early hours of the morning. I was on the fifth floor-no double glazing so was awake until the trains stopped. Lifts only go up to the fourth floor have to walk to the additional floor. The bathroom needs a good revamp. The water "dribbles" out of the wash hand basin. No shampoo and a "bar" of soap that will last one shower. No remote control for TV. Breakfast is fine if you want croissants and buns! The fruit consisted solely of some tinned peaches that looked as if they had been lying for some time, maybe the day before's. There was white and brown bread but the toaster was "out of order". Definitely will not be back!

Room small and basic (no hair dryer or safe, but there were tea/coffee making facilities and a TV), but if you just want one night before an early start on the EuroStar, a very reasonable choice of hotel. Noisy outside, but it is London! No breakfast, but a very good cafe up the road. Also excellent Italian (Casa Mamma) just across the road. Security very good. After check-in, you have to use your card key to get to rooms, and once on the floor you require, you have to use your card key to gain access to the corridor where rooms are again.

I have stayed in travelodges all over the country and this is hands down the worst. It was noisy (right outside the tube line and a noisy bar) no fry up included in the breakfast which one comes to expect from a travelodge, also our room was cold, hair in the shower, stained towels and unfriendly staff (especially rude breakfast staff). My advice, even if it costs a bit more, go somewhere else!!!

I have stayed here loads of time (x10 at least) and I am always amazed by the reviews I read here on TA. People complain about the noise, the trains, the traffic, the sirens. I don't want to be funny but this is a hotel in the middle of London next to a mainline railway station. In its defence its a location that is superb if you want to get around central London, or if , like me you just want somewhere to stay that is close to Euston and Kings Cross stations ( or St Pancras International if I am using Eurostar.) If you are a very light sleeper, don't stay here. Its in the middle of London and near a railway station. I said that already, right! If you want a cheapish (last time I stayed it was £62) and very central hotel and don't mind the fact that it is a bit tired and and a bit noisy (see previous comments!) then its fine. If you want luxury and peaceful tranquility then you are in the wrong hotel in the wrong part of the wrong city. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and reasonable size for a budget hotel. TV in my room was on old portable so that needs sorting. Didn't have breakfast or use bar so can't comment on that. Would I stay again? Well duh!!
