“Uncomfortable Sofa-bed, disappointing breakfast.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We had a family room comprising of two rooms, one with a double bed and the other a double sofa bed.

The sofa-bed had a thin mattress with thick hard metal springs which could be felt when lying down, this offered no comfort.

The breakfast was buffet style, but items were not being refilled, through our time at breakfast the scrambled eggs and mushrooms did not get topped up when they clearly were empty or running very low.

The location of the hotel is very close to the Excel Centre and Prince Regent station on the DLR. The setting of the hotel is fine with a river view available from some windows.

We were set on a different wing of the hotel, this meant walking through the restaurant to get to the lift - this did prove awkward when there was a wedding function taking place.

Overall the comfort of the sofa-bed was a let down as other cheaper hotels have given a better sleep.

Room Tip: Don't have a sofa-bed or demand an alternative mattress if you have to use one.

We stayed at the Ramada Docklands as were were attending the ATP Masters' Finals and were given a citybreak hotel voucher. The reception staff were friendly and remembered that we'd been to see the tennis when we left next morning. The room was clean and spacious and well appointed with a really nice bathroom. Sadly the hotel is a bit isolated and there is little to do or see in the vicinity. The breakfast was adequte and well cooked but almost all the dishes on the buffet were either cold or lukewarm - certainly not the "hot breakfast" we expected.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the waterfront

I stayed in this hotel for the 2nd time last week. My first visit was in 2010 where the quality of the hotel and staff are still at high standard. Some of the staff are new but some of them were familiar to us.

Location - Great location for Excel, just a 5 minute walk. DLR station Prince Regent is just a 6 minute walk for me. Not many attractions around the area but for Excel this is an ideal place.

Staff - very friendly indeed. Staff at reception, restaurant etc. were very friendly. Always with a smile and at our service. Not to forget Gazali who provided an excellent service similar to our last time. One of the best night managers I have seen at a hotel.

Room - Bit small, But very tidy and clean with nice view over the waters. 42 inch LED TV and Free wifi internet was my favorite.

Food - We had some meals at the restaurant and was always nice and prompt.

Overall, I recommend this hotel again to any business traveler and I doubt you can find a similar hotel close to Excel with better service standards and lower cost.

Room Tip: Rooms with view of water is good.

A quick trip to the smoke and curesy of a national newspaper a cheap night at a nice hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The roomwas clean and spacious. The bathroom was large with nice walk in shower. A few minor recor repairs would improve the minor cosmetic errors in the room

I booked this hotel purely because I got a £20 room offer and didnt have high expectations
The hotel is located well out in docklands beyond Canary Wharf. It takes between 30-45 minutes from central London and is about a 5-10 minute walk from Price Regent Docklands Light Railway Station. It is very close to EXCEL exhibition centre and is close to the new cable car that connects the O2 arena (formerly dome) however this currently finishes early in the evening so it not much use for attending evening concerts etc
I arrived in the dark by DLR and the paths were reasonably well lit but petered out in places and it was a little awkward with a suitcase
Arriving at reception there was a disco blaring out of the 'restaurant' and I could hardly hear the receptionist. There were groups of people hanging out smoking at the entrance and to be honest I was forming a contingency plan to leave and book somewhere else. However check-in was efficient and I was offered a pre-pay breakfast for £10 which seemed reasonable
Arriving at the room was a total contrast, it was quiet, clean and reasonable appointed, a bit better than a Holiday Inn Express
To my amazement it was quiet all night and I had a very good nights sleep indeed
Going down to the restaurant for breakfast I was not sure what to expect given the mayhem the previous evening. I could have been in a totally different place, it was bright, airey, had a great view over an old dock and I was greeted and seated promptly
The self-service breakfast was good, a fair selection of hot and cold food and everything available and fresh
Check out was efficient and the walk to the DLR station was much better in sunlight than the evening before
I believe wifi and parking is free making this a good budget choice
I would stay here again, it was great value for accessing central London

Room Tip: some rooms face the docks if you want a view, otherwise its the courtyard or docklands railway. Nois...

I stayed in this hotel overnight while visiting the o2 for the ATP tennis finals.

It is ideally located for the o2, very close to two DLR stops and has some free car parking spaces.

The staff were friendly. The room were nice, very clean with a great view of the runway for london city airport. You heard zero noise which was good. There was also a wedding on downstairs on the night of our stay and I pleased to say we didn't hear a thing.

We ordered room service and this was fast and tasty.

On the downside, the only breakfast offered was continental which at £13.5 per person is quite extorniate. We went to the Fox and Connaught pub next door and had a wonderful relaxed breakfast for a fraction of that.

There was no wifi in the room, although you could pay extra for broadband. I felt this was very cheeky, I expected better from a supposidly four star hotel.

Also it had freeview, but quite a few channels were absent including Sky News. The movie selection and games on our tv were also not working.

This is a nice hotel that met our needs or a one night stay. We paid £85 on hotwire, but if we would of paid the £110 expedia was expecting or been staying longer, I would of been quite disapointed. Compared to 4 star hotels I have stayed in, this doesn't quite meet the grade.

Room Tip: A view of the runway is quite cool, if you like that sort of thing.

Stayed here for the ATP finals at the O2. Just a few minutes from the station and easy to get to the O2 via the cable car - great fun! We did not have any food at the hotel but the room was clean and spacious. The view across the river was a bonus. Staff were helpful and it was great value for money. Would definitely stay here again.
