“12.99 for a room at Olympics FAB”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

I stayed here for a weekend with a friend in the 6 bed female ensuite dorm and it was great value for money. The room was clean, the bathroom was a little small but spotless. Privacy was maintained by curtains around the bunks. For your own comfort I'd recommend bringing a sleeping bag but the sheets were spotless. It was also very hot in the room with no air con, but you can't have everything. The staff are really friendly and helpful, also as they are often very stressed if you a little kind to them they bend over backwards to help you. The atmosphere is great and the location is perfect for exploring London and 2 minutes from a tube and supermarkets if you want to cook in the hostel.
While some of the interior is a little shabby, you get what you pay for and I would definitely come back again and recommend it to others if you don't mind roughing it :)

Room Tip: Choose an ensuite, the facilities are much better than the communal bathrooms.

I spent 5 days in London and had the best days of my life. The nights, however, were just terrible, once i stayed in a bedroom with another 17 people, very hot in the summer, noisy and all the bad things you can imagine for a Hostel. The location is also not THAT good.

I stayed here by myself for a trip to London over a long weekend, and it served it's purpose. For the age of the building, I suppose the rooms and bathrooms are as clean as they can be, but perhaps the carpets could do with some replacing as they don't smell very nice.

I really liked the curtains on the dorm beds, as it gave you some privacy and blocked out some of the light when other room mates came back late at night.

The absolute one thing that annoyed me was the fact that there is no ventilation in the rooms, so when you have a number of people in the same room, it gets very hot, sticky and not so pleasant, so I definitely would NOT stay here in Summer.

Overall, if you want a cheap hostel that is in the centre of London (it's very close to Bayswater Underground Station), then I recommend this hostel. However, if you're after something a little more comfortable, then maybe sacrifice a little more in the price, and opt for something different.

I stayed here for a weekend with friends recently. It was not a very nice place but it was fine because we just wanted somewhere to lay our heads in the evening. When checking in the lady at reception was very kind, but when checking out the guy was very rude.

I would recommend this accommodation to students or young people who go to London on a short trip. For anything longer than the weekend you should avoid it.

...it's like that in essence, but nothing like as fun.

I was there for one night and it was fine - not good, but it did the job and I have a strong stomach. By the sounds of it I got off lightly.

The lass on reception managed to be helpful, rude, cheerful and mardy all at the same time.

There are men hanging around randomly on the stairs, which are lethal. 9am is not the best time for the cleaners to decide to mop them with soapy water when everyone is making their way up and down for breakfast/showers/to get the hell out.

Bed was fine and I actually slept well. That tiny space sandwiched in the middle of a triple-decker bunk-bed was my personal haven in an otherwise gloomy place. I was in a 6 bed mixed dorm which between the beds had enough room for two people who are comfortable enough touching each other to stand. The lock was broken on the locker, and I'm pretty sure anyone with a keycard for your room can open any locker within. Not exactly secure. Thankfully I had nothing too valuable at stake.

This is by no means a youth hostel. Plenty of older, non-English speaking, aggressive gentlemen exposing themselves to you in the rancid excuse for bathroom facilities to keep you on your toes. I showered, but did not feel clean.

The location is, frankly, fabulous - which makes it possible depending on your priorities to overlook how shoddy the rest of it is. I wouldn't want to be there for more than a couple of nights and to be honest, you could probably find something more habitable with just as good a location for the £20 a night.

Six triple bunk beds situated in a normal sized hotel room - can't believe it has passed any fire risk assessment. The floor can't be seen due to the amount of bags, clothes, shoes strewn about the place and everything stinks, including the tiny showers and loos, but the longer you linger the more you get use to it and I had a surprising good nights kip. Bring ear plugs, an eye-blind and a coat hanger to keep your stuff off the floor (corridor between bunks). People can be very inconsiderate so expects lights on, conversations, snoring, coughing and door slamming.
The wifi only applies to one tiny room which is packed with teenagers in the evenings so if you are over 25 the other residents will call you grandpa/ma.
A refundable 10quid deposit is paid for clean sheets/key and also I found the staff really good and efficient, and even they know it is a dive.
Location is good close to bars, shops and the tube is 30seconds away.
However it is ridiculously cheap for London but the money that you save will soon be spent dreaming up ways to keep away from that place.
If you are a bunch of teenagers... why not.

Room Tip: All rooms are awful, but choose a bunk close to the window (if there is one that is) so youhave fres...

This hostel feels more like a homeless shelter than a hostal, we had an early flight out of heathrow and thought the cheap price would be fine for 1 night. I awoke around 4:00 AM to a large man snore yelling in the bed above me, he must have been in his mid 30's so certainly no youth hostile here. This belief was confrimed when (due to the large snoring man above me I couldn't sleep and decided to take a shower since our flight was leaving at 7:00 AM) and was greeted by a small half bald gray haired man standing (in one of the two side by side showers) naked with the shower curtain open. Undeterred I closed the curtain on my stall and went ahead and showered. After the shower I went back to my bed to gather my things and dress to find another older gentleman had crawled in and was fast asleap. I dressed in the dark and got out of that rat trap, certainly never to return.
