“Absolutely the place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Excellent location, fantastic staff, clean/modern/very comfortable rooms, and delicious breakfast! Go for it....it works! Our room was 1321 and it faced the "other way", not towards Parliament, Big Ben, London Eye, etc. So if you want that view, ask for it! Breakfast was delish - don't miss! Scrambled eggs don't look that good, but are excellent!!

Short walk to Pimlico Station on Victoria Line and Westminster Station by Big Ben/Parliament. Easy walking to many sight seeing things, Covent Gardens, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, etc. Really convenient!!

Only drawback.....sandpaper towels! Truly, robes and towels were VERY rough! If only they had soft towels, we would have NO regrets!

Thanks for a great stay!!!

I have stayed at many hotels in London, this is one of the best yet.

5 mins walk from Pimlico (underground), and several busses going in all directions just a street or two away. Get an oyster card and go explore London from this central hotel. It is close to everything, but in a really quiet area. No traffic noise in the room, not even a sirene from emergency vehicles.

The room was very clean and with everything you need. Easy to adjust the temperature in the room to your comfort.

Wi-fi in room worked great, it was nice to be able to check emails and surf for free.

We didn't have breakfast at hotel, as I find hotel breakfasts usually very expensive and not that great. Just 2 mins away was a Pret a manger, with a large selection of warm and cold sandwiches, juices and nice coffee.

Also visited a local pub on Friday night, it was nice to have a drink there before going back to the hotel.

Easy access to the walkway on the South Bank side of the Themes, so the location of this hotel is just superb. Look no further.

Note: I got a 40 % off deal online!

Room Tip: Room facing an office building was especially quiet.

I stayed for one night on 19/11/12. The hotel is pretty easy to find from Pimlico tube station, about a 5min walk.

Staff were welcoming (no queue to check in which is always a plus) and the warm cookie offered was a nice touch.

I was allocated a room on the seventh floor with a "king bed" which unfortunately turned out to be made from two twin beds, so you had to put up with an unpleasant "ridge" in the middle of the bed.

The room itself was what you would expect for the price - clean and functional. The drawer arrangement concealing the tea/coffee facilities was a little odd. It was rather nice to have an iMac (and free wi-fi), and there was a surprisingly good selection of TV channels which is unusual for this country. The bathroom was clean but tiny and featured only a shower cubicle, hopefully they will refurbish these soon so they offer a better-quality shower.

Overall I'd say the hotel does what it says on the tin. Key plusses were the location and iMac, minuses being the bathroom facilities and sub-standard bed.

Room Tip: Avoid the front of the hotel if you want to lie in - major building works accross the road.

The hotel is a few doors away from the Tate Britain, the 88 bus which goes to Westminster and Trafalgar square stops by the Tate. Pimlico underground is about five minutes away which makes the hotel easily accessible.
The hotel has clearly been recently refurbished and check in was very swift. The City Cafe is on the ground floor and there are two lounges: the Millbank on the first floor via a stairway just past reception and the Skyview lounge on the 14th floor. The rooms are comfortable and are supplied with an Apple computer/television with free WiFi.
Breakfast was in the City Cafe with the usual wide and varied Hilton range, on the Saturday morning I was there it was absolutely packed. Breakfast was included with the room however if you choose not to opt for breakfast at booking it is £21.50 each if you change your mind.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel, after a TAUCK tour of Ireland. We spent 10 nights there. This hotel offered a continental breakfast with our hotel points. We could walk a very short way to Westminister Abbey, Big Ben, the museum, Parliament, Hourse Guard, etc. It was a very convenient hotel. We could see the Thames from our room. We could get the bus very close to our hotel or even the Tube, which was a short walk. We have also stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Kensington, three times in the past four years. It was also a nice hotel.

i don,t no if i would of liked this hotel or not because my husband and myself were given a price over the phone when we booked we checked this price 3 times before we arrived but when we arrived we were given a complete different price but because THEY never sent any comformation to me they would not honour this price and were trying to pass the buck so we had to go somewhere else. maybe we were not posh enough!!!

Dear isobel l,

Thank you for your review of your experience with Hilton Central Reservations.

Please be aware that rate enquiries are handled by a team that is not on-site at the property, and that all our rates are subject to daily changes and fluctuations depending on availability. The Front Office team are therefore unaware of any rate queries you may have made to Central Reservations unless your booking had been confirmed, in which case a confirmation email would have been automatically sent out to you (and us) at the time of booking. If only an enquiry was made without a confirmed reservation as appears to be the case, then we can only quote you the best available rate on the day when you arrive. I believe this is the procedure followed by most hotels worldwide.

We hope that we can welcome you to the DoubleTree Westminster in future so that you can actually stay with us and experience the DoubleTree Hospitality first-hand (and of course, our signature DoubleTree Cookie!)

Kind regards,

Dola O

My husband and I have just returned from my birthday weekend in London. We had a great stay at this hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough, from start to end it was perfect.
We walked from the tube (Pimlico) about 10 minutes - not a particulary scenic route, but easy enough to find. We then tried the alternative station, Westminister, again about 10 minutes but far more scenic - you go past Big Ben, The Houses of Parliment and Westminister Abbey, alternatively you can walk along the Embankment past the London Eye - walk down as far as Lambeth bridge and cross over, hotel about 3 mins from bridge.
From the moment we checked in we were impressed, we were greated by a smiling doorman and a smiling receptionist, she alos gave us two freshly baked cookies .... yummy ! Our room was just perfect for a weekend stay - comfy bed, clean and smart decor.
The bar area (which we visitied about 11.45pm) was really trendy, good music, freindly staff and a very cosmoploitan feel !
Well done doubletree - we would come back
