“An excellent attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

As soon as we arrived at the building we were delighted by its look. Inside didn't disappoint either. Everything kept getting even better. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly. The show was very professional and entertaining, we were soon laughing out loud along with the rest of the audience. We can definitely recommend the whole experience.

“A most special jewel of London Cultural life !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Those of you who see our home location being in Scotland might wonder how we found Brick Lane Music Hall.

Indeed, we found them totally by accident !

My husband and I used to meet up in London often for cultural weekends when he was working in Europe. I would drive down to London from Scotland, staying at the City Airport Travelodge, and my husband would fly back to City Airport, meeting up with me at that Travelodge which is just across the road from the City Airport. We would go to various cultural events in the West End during those weekends. It was during those weekends that we discovered behind the City Airport Travelodge, on North Woolwich Road, there was a medieval-looking castle-like building of the Gothic style, with a really charming conical tower at the right hand side of it. We thought it probably was an unused church, as it seemed always closed whenever we drove past it on our way to get some Chinese food items from a Chinese food superstore which is further down that road.

As we drove past this castle-looking building more often, we grew more and more curious about what's inside that mysterious ancient-looking castle which did not seem to be a ruin, but a very fine delicate yet strong fortress which was surrounded by very-well maintained black cast-iron railings like those around the Buckingham Palace !

On 12 Oct 2012, we finally could not resist our curiosity and stopped our car, walking over to have a good look at this fairy-tale-like fortress.

This time, right in front of the cast-iron gate, we spotted a poster which showed this building being Brick Lane Music Hall, and they were to perform an afternoon high-tea music event of the French theme the next day on 13 Oct 2012. We decided to try our luck and see if we could get 2 tickets to see their performance. As the gate was locked, and so, we went back to our Travelodge room to send them an email at the email address which was shown on that poster. We could not believe our luck - they came back very quickly and said they were already full, but could try to squeeze us in for the next afternoon !

We... ever since, we have become loyal fans of this exquisite venue and their events !

For us, it is like an intimate private club filled with happy elements, where all visitors are treated like a big family, i.e. all staff members and guests are so friendly towards one another, and we always enjoyed food and drinks there, not to even mention how much laughter and fun we have had. In the latest two events we went to on 11 Jan and 22 Feb 2014, we did not leave till well after midnight, really did not wish to come out ! The more we went there, the more we wished to go there again, for everything that we could enjoy in there, i.e. best wonderful home-cooked food, drinks, superb music, hilarious jokes, the very special atmosphere, extremely-friendly staff members, etc., really everything !

For me, an Oriental who has been extremely fascinated with European castles and medieval fortresses such dream-like fairy-tales since my childhood, Brick Lane Music Hall and their everything really fulfilled my childhood dreams of wishing to be in such a fairy-tale-like wonderland, time after time, never made me feel tired of visiting them. My English husband is just the same, really loves visiting Brick Lane Music Hall to enjoy their everything, and has commented that Brick Lane for him was far more fun than visiting his favourite gentleman’s club in central London near New Bond Street !

In their New Year's Eve champagne dinner special event on 11 Jan 2014, we missed Brick Lane's master, Mr Vincent Hayes who was unwell. But we saw him appear on the stage for a short appearance on 22 Feb 014 in their Pantomime event, while he was said to be still recovering from his recent illness (according to a staff member). But, even just a short appearance, he made everyone laugh so much as ever, till tears burst out of our eyes ! We wish to send Vincent our best wishes for his full recovery soon and continue making us laugh non-stop when we see him again next time !

We will try to upload some photos which we took from our past visits during the past 1.5 years since we became loyal fans of Brick Lane Music Hall, and hope our photos will inspire many more people to visit this most special jewel of the London cultural scene.
