“Location, location, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

This is my default hotel in London! It offer good rates (but not always the lowest), clean rooms (single, twin, triples, and quads), small but very clean bathroom (with always hot shower), and - best of all - excellent location. Breakfast room and service are very nice, but the quality of food is sub-par. Overall, a great place to stay for a days or even for a week when in London.

Again- the major reason that I stay here is not the hotel itself, but it's location. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the Paddington Train Station (direct trains to London LHR) and 5 minutes walk from the Hyde Park for morning runs or afternoon walks. The Tube stop at the Paddington offer easy transfers to all major tourist attractions and historic sites in London. Finally, the area around the hotel offers a number of dinning options, including typical local pubs, fish-and-chips stands, and small grocery stores open late at night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street, or those on upper floors.

Thank you for your comments.
We are located in listed buildings (dated to the 1830s) and a few of our rooms are small but adequate for purpose. We also have one and two bedroom suites lounge and kitchen areas and en suite bathrooms. Please enquire about the availability of this accommodation on your next visit.

I stayed here in October 2011 for one night on a quick visit to London for a football match. We were looking for something reasonably priced with parking and access to the tube system.

The hotel gives a good first impression with a nice lobby and friendly front desk staff. There is limited (fee) parking just outside the door and spaces are a bit tight but we managed okay.

Once past the front desk it seems that your experience might depend on the room you get. There were 4 of us and we had a lower basement room that was probably the most cramped room you could get outside of Manhattan. The beds were extremely tight and the bathroom the smallest imaginable. That being said, as we hadn't intended spending much time in our room and those travelling with me were family it wasn't the biggest issue for me and it served its purpose. It did however mean that the room was very warm and I'd imagine that it could get very hot in mid-summer. This is no doubt a function of the age of the building but a room on a higher floor might get a bit more space. Accessing the room was also a bit awkward with a lift that seemed to take for ever to arrive. The room was clean although there wasn'y much floor space to vacuum.

Breakfast was surprisingly good and very popular.

This hotel is very conveniently located for the underground with Paddington Station just around the corner. The hotel was also located just outside the congestion charge zone which was another reason for its selection as we were driving to it from Wales. Indeed the area is very accessible from the M1 as its almost a straight road into the area from the motorway network. The immediate area is quite pleasant although we didn't get a chance to frequent any of the bars or restaurants

All in all, a reasonable proposition if you are not fussy about space and require convenient access to the tube.

Room Tip: Try to avoid a basement room which may be small and hot but you may have little choice if the hotel...

A well positioned Hotel, Excellent location with easy access to underground and train stations.
hotel was very clean and tidy. Staff were welcoming & helpful and the hotel value for money.
The bathroom was clean and functional and the shower was excellent.

Great location coming in from Heathrow after a 30 hour flight-via the Heathrow connect- much cheaper than the Express- 25 minutes travel time.Walkable distance with luggage from the station to the Hotel. Rooms very small but clean. We stayed x 3 days & found breakfast to be very limited with no variety.Staff friendly but not aware that Vodaphone was @ Paddington station for SIM card parafinalia.

Room Tip: Ask for back room=quieter

This hotel has a great location, it is located quite close to anything, be it the hyde park or oxford street. It is situated aproximately 200m from Paddington tube station, so public transportation is really reachable easily. The main lobby with its statues and a fountaine is trying to impress people entering the hotel, however, creating TERRIBLY wrong expecations about the rest of the hotel's premises. The rooms are very very small. i undertand this is a listed building, however, it was almost impossible to moe around in our room. There was actually space just for one(a very small one) wardrobe in a double room. Next thing that really struck me was the fact that they have just one key per room. In reality this meant that my friend woke me up every night coming from the town latee than I did, not being able to open the door himself. How is this possible? Have you ever heard of programmable entry cards, dear Hotel? The breakast was very plain and static, I tended to go outside to grab something, however, I understand this is normal given the price level. The staff was quie friendly, and also the cleaning lady did her job very thoroughly despite of the fact that the bathroom needed really some refurbishment and I'm thankful for that. All in all, it's quite hard to judge this hotel overall, I guess I am not to come back again to this hotel. Not because I would be entirely disappointed but because I realized I will dedicate more money for accommadation next timeI visit London to get a bit higher standard (especially the room size). thank you.

My wife and I booked online--a single room--showed up at 1am and were told that a single room was for one person and if we both wanted to stay we would have to rent another room! After much arguing we were offered a room for almost double the price i had prepaid.

Room Tip: Be careful booking online.

Dear Guest ,
We are sorry to hear about your disappointment during your stay.
Your reservation was for a single room, single room is for 1 person only.
As you were two persons and our Hotel was full on the day,we could only upgrade you to a small apartment (our only available room)that could accomodate two persons on that day.
Best Regards

This hotel gives a very good first impression, the lobby is impressive and the location is great..... however the room lay out is quite confusing, and it took awhile tofind our room. The room was very basic, but had everything you need. The tv was old & picture green? but we only wanted a bed & shower for 1 night... so it did the trick. In the morning, that was the biggest disapointment. Breakfast..... cheap sausage, scrambled egg and beans, with cold toast. How is that a full english breakfast? I have never in any country i have visited been given such a lame breakfast! For £150 a night - i expected better
