“Great value in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Just back from a 3 night break staying here. Basic accommodation which is clean, warm and comfortable. We were given a free upgrade to an en suite. Loved the breakfast and a selection of 6 items is more than enough. Friendly staff. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.

I have been reluctant to post a review in the past because, there being no better value for money than Carr Saunders and other LSE accommodations in London, it may limit my chances of a succesful booking in the future.
Location, cleanliness and the helpfulness of staff ensure a very comfortable and relaxing stay in the capital with many of London's attractions within walking distance, or a short bus ride away. Carr Saunders is usually my first choice because it is often slightly cheaper than other LSE accommodations but, having enjoyed short stays in all of them, its facilities and provision are on a par with them all.
May see you there in the future.

Excellent. This is the second time I have stayed in LSE accommodation. The first time for my partner. Its a place to rest your head.... warm, clean and a good hearty breakfast. Brilliant value for London. Will definitely use them again.

Basic but good and felt secure. Happier to spend £48 for a single room in this student accommodation than £160 for a Premier Inn etc. (During the Olympics, though I saw prices can start from £36). A short walk to Warren or Goodge Street tube. Unfortunately the room not refitted but ok, comfortable. Slightly put off by pest control cartons on the floor under the desk (but I think deterrent rather than traps - did not pick one up)! More so by the 'not drinking water' sign by the sink which made you think twice about brushing teeth (a small soap provided by the bed). The kitchen on my floor was refitted and pleasantly smart though, albeit with confusing labels on the recycling bins. The shared bathroom on that floor was closed when I stayed but stairs nearby, with the same layout on other floors. Breakfast had a fair choice and busy with a queue - not surprising at this price/date - but '6 items only' included, 7 it seemed not possible to pay extra for so had to put a banana back...for the price it's a fair budget option & I would stay again.

I was a bit apprehensive about staying in halls of residence whilst on business in London for a week. Yes, the room was a bit basic but the room had plenty of space, desk, sink, Free Wifi, the good value laundry room was a bit of a bonus. The breakfast available was very varied with everything from Pastries, cereal, cheese n Ham, cereals, yoghurts, and all the cooked breakfast items & Quality you'd expect from a decent hotel! The only annoying thing was having to limit the breakfast items (5 or 6 or something) seemed a little petty. The communal showers/toilets were clean and not too out-dated and certainly well maintained, apart from the one morning there was no hot water for a shower (had to go into the office stinking). Friendly staff and overall very good value for money. Would definatley stay here again.

I would like to update my review of April 2012 - I returned in September 2012 and floor 4 seems to have been redecorated and the communal showers completely refurbished. Overall a much better impression. Well done LSE.

Room Tip: Request 4th floor

LSE Carr Saunders Hall is a student accomodation hotel only available to the general public when the students have gone home, so this hotel is ideal for those wishing to stay in the centre of London at a cut price.

The staff were very friendly and help and the hotel itself though dated, was clean and tidy. What more could you ask for?

The bedrooms have the basics, sink, mirror, kettle etc. There is no TV in the rooms but there is a general / common room downstairs with TV, Wi-Fi, vending machines.

If you're working on a budget and want a clean residence to rest your head, then search no further!
