“Great budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We stayed in a cozy double room with ensuite bathroom which wasn't as tiny as we feared. I liked how each room comes with a kettle for you to make coffee or tea—really convenient. The neighborhood is great; on my last visit, I stayed near Kings Cross and this is a much quieter part of town but still close enough to plenty of restaurants and grocery stores (e.g. Tesco, Sainsbury's) along nearby Queensway. The breakfast is simple (toast, rolls, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, canned fruit) but good; make sure to get downstairs early because they have short breakfast hours (until 9am on weekdays and until 9:30am on weekends).

Wifi in the room was spotty. But, I sat on the 2nd floor where there are two chairs by the staircase and got wifi there; you can also go down to the front. There was this big hole in the ceiling of my room which just looked funny but didn't really affect the room itself otherwise. To get to room 14-15, there's a short and pitch dark hallway without any light fixtures; it definitely made it hard to open my door without a flashlight for help.

FYI: There are two other nearby streets also called Craven Hill Gardens so it's easy to get lost. The hotel is on the north most of the three. Look at a map or else you'll end up like the guy I overheard on my last night who got turned around for 35 minutes in the rain and started yelling at the front desk as if they had control over how the city of London decided to name their streets.

Room Tip: Room 14 faces the back of the building and is super quiet.

We (two adults) stayed at the Caring Hotel for 3 nights in room 14. It was a lovely hotel, very well located in Bayswater, with a very friendly staff. We were warned that the room was 'small', but it was quite a decent size and we didn't feel cramped at all. The bathroom had everything you need and was very clean. The bedroom was situated away from the street so was perfectly quiet and allowed for a good rest.
The complimentary breakfast was served by a very friendly, warm staff and had everything needed. Basic fruits, cereals, boiled eggs, cheese, juice, tea, toast and coffee.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay in London. It has everything you need, is comfortable and clean at an almost unbeatable price.

We stayed here for 5 nights in Oct 12. We travelled by train from the airport and walked to the hotel. We were on the first floor overlooking the street which was pleasant. The room was not huge but comfortable, good temperature, clean, would stay there again. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: First floor with street view is pleasant.

Having stayed in quite a few small/cheap hotels in the Paddington area, I have now plumped for this one. While the decor is a little outdated and it has a bit of an old fashioned feel (it certainly has no pretentions of being a 'boutique hotel' or offering chic design) the rooms are of a good size, not crammed in the basement (as are many in the same area for the same price), and the staff very friendly. If you want a hairdryer, you have to ask at the desk, and they don't have duvets, just sheets and blankets.

Its in a quiet area though with easy access to cafes and restaurants and Hyde Park.

Room Tip: Rooms 11 and 12 are at the front, the ones with en-suite bathrooms.

We booked this hotel for our 18 year old daughter to stay one night in January, and this hotel was everything she needed. It was clean, comfortable, secure, the staff were very helpful, the location - close to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park - was fantastic, and transportation was very close. Paddington Station is a short walk, and there were bus stops, tube stations and bus tour stops all in one location just minutes away.

The complimentary breakfast was good and her room was big enough for her and all her luggage. She did not unpack, but there was sufficient space had she been staying longer.

The only complaint was that the wifi was spotty.

This hotel lives up to its rating - TripAdvisor was invaluable, once again.

I've stayed here twice, so yes, I came back.
It's very good value for central London, nice comfy bed (a very adequate size for one person or for a couple at the start of their relationship), friendly and helpful staff, well-located for Paddington Station (an easy walk even with two trolleys), the tube and shops near, and the friendly Leinster pub three minutes away.
The whole street is secluded from traffic so pleasantly quiet, with building work over the road only starting at 7:30, but they'll be finished one day.
On the down side, the "continental" (?) breakfast is very spartan, with only cereals, toast, cold hard-boiled eggs, jams and cheese, so visitors might be advised to supplement this in some way - I brought my own Marmite.
My room (12) is the only one to have a streetside balcony, which is (or was) however unusable because of building work going on, so airing the room was a problem, although the sash windows do let it quite a bit of air all the time. (I have a photo of the view from my room, but it would be unfair to post it as I'm sure the scaffolding will be gone soon.)
The room was spotless at the beginning, but the carpet didn't seem to see a proper vacuum cleaner during my stay. The bathroom was maintained better.
There's no lift (which is presumably what makes it cheap), but asking for an ensuite room on the ground floor (to the back, so no risk of unwanted visitors) or on the first floor will guarantee that you don't have to lift your heavy luggage too far.
A nice little feature: the scales on the landing, which can help you check the weight of your luggage before you head for the airport.
I'm sure I'll be back, despite the breakfast.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with an ensuite bathroom unless you like the hostel atmosphere. Ask for a r...

we stayed for 3 nights and our room was very clean.the stairs were every persons nightmare as we were top floor,so would advise to request lower floor when booking with this hotel. The owner was great guy and hotel has 24 hours reception service.i was shocked to be charged £12 to store my small suitcase and 2 holdalls and few plastic shopping bags for 5 hours on day i was leaving,as feel his was unfair. The breakfast is continental and think it would be better if offered bacon bap or sausage bap, something cooked would have been a nice choice to have had,but just around corner there was a great little cafe that did fantastic breakfast.

Room Tip: choose lower floor on booking as stairs are a nightmare.
