“Revolting”

This turned out to be the accomodation from hell! The hotel looks great on the outside but is completely run down inside. No elevator, rude staff and a general smell of dampness. The smell of dampness in the room was unbearable. Most likely cause was the tiny excuse for a shower in the corner with luke warm water and no ventilation. Every creak can be heard from anyone walking around upstairs. As for the continental breakfast, don't even waste your time. Got treated to a cup of tea with tea leaves floating on top and a couple of slices of toast. Overall this place is a disaster.

Based upon a London trip I took eight years ago with a stay in the same section of London (similar hotel from the OUTSIDE) I expected a small room, but NOT a hovel! I paid over 1 thousand dollars - in advance - for a 3 night stay, double occupancy. Don 't be fooled by the photographs! Like my own wrinkles, you have to see for yourself, up close, that this hotel needs more than just a facelift! Let me inject that the staff was helpful after I started crying. My cousin and I had to share a double bed with at least a 40 year old, cabin -sized bath unit in the corner of the room. We kept shuffling ourselves and our luggage in our tiny "accommodation." The sink was FULL of cracks ; we each had one tiny bar of soap to last the 3 days! The toilet took 20 minutes to refill - both embarrassing and unsanitary. The "Continental " breakfast was toast and coffee. No yogurt, cereal, muffins, or fruit. I was at the hotel 's mercy as I couldn't afford to go elsewhere and suffer the loss of my money too.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!!

If I could give this a zero I would.

I saw a room after I had checked in, and refused to stay there. They wouldn't give me a refund, but even that wouldn't keep me there. I don't think they could have paid ME to stay there. I actually paid NOT to stay there. There was a lovely hotel around the corner that was more expensive but sooo much nicer.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

Two great things about this hotel were its very central location and the friendliness of the staff. We had a decent first floor room, and a very sparklingly new bathroom. This is not the Ritz but good value for money. breakfast is OK and the orange juice is fine by my standards. We did pay over the odds but it was the Olympics so high prices expected.

Based on other reviews, I thought this hotel would offer reasonable value during the expensive Olympic period but sadly, I was wrong. While it is in a good location and the room was clean, the property is too old and tired and the service absolutely minimal. The breakfast was literally cold toast and jam accompanied by room temperature orange juice (making it warmer than the toast!) The ancient plumbing meant the toilet didn't flush properly and the hot water took 5 minutes to come through, which saw a lot of water wasted. It will take more than the fresh coat of paint currently being applied to the exterior to get this hotel up to scratch. If we need to return to the area, we'll stay at the London Elizabeth Hotel just up the road.
