I've had coffee here a few times hoping that it gets better, but it hasn't. Even if they use Monmouth Coffee and have an excellent machine from Italy, the staff lack a clear understanding of how to make coffee that isn't bitter and too hot. The staff obviously needs some further training from Monmouth on how to properly select grind, clean the machine, etc. so that the bitter taste of the espresso is left out and the great aspects can come through. The milk is poor quality, heated to extremes and not properly frothed. The staff always seem in a hurry, even if the shop isn't busy. They should slow down a bit and take their time to make a proper coffee instead of racing through customers.
On top of this, the pastries look days old, dried up, and the atmosphere in the basement is dark and serious. No thanks. I now just go down the street to Monmouth and hope the line isn't too long or head to Pret or Eat, both of which have organic milk.
