“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

We stayed at Welby 57 for three nights. While I can understand some of the complaints, the flat we stayed in was perfect for our needs. Everything worked. The bathroom and kitchenette were clean. The bed was comfortable. The location -- near Swiss Cottage tube station -- was convenient. For the price, I couldn't have expected more.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 14. It's narrow and, as someone else noted, the bed is oddly situated. But this two...

Have read some of the reviews...some appear a bit harsh. I didn't stay at the Belsize residence, to be fair to their reviews which were of that residence. I stayed at the Swiss Cottage (new) residence.

My stay was wonderful. Room was small and tidy. New fixtures and bathroom was spotless. Location of Swiss Cottage was excellent - having lived in London for sometime before my stay and in the same general area, it is hard to beat the price for the location and standard of studio.

Flexibility is great for professionals or people in between apartment leases. Can do deposit down to a weekly basis.

Daniel is the person I dealt with in the office. He was fab - even contactable out of hours and helped on small issues.

Overall, Swiss Cottage Welby is a place I will be staying at again if in need of short term accommodation in London.

The photo's showed a basic, self catering apartment which looked ok for a cheap hotel in London, it appeared clean and bright with seating and a dining area. In reality the first thing to greet you when walking through the door (apart from a shaking thin wall) was a dim light bulb (one of the few working) hanging from a wire above the small unmade bed, which was about 2ft in front on the entrance. This dim and dirty trend flowed through the property, which also included poorly closing and partially hanging off bay window curtains. The catering area was dirty and poorly equipped with any type of cutlery and next to this was a toilet/shower.

After a long day in the city sight seeing, we thought we could put up with the place for just one night, so when arriving back at 11:30pm that night we were rewarded with very clear conversations and noise form the neighbouring apartment, no running cold water and a toilet which did not flush. An attempting to shower with only the hot water working was quickly abandoned after discovering that the water indeed was scalding and unusable.

After a terrible nights rest we got out of there first thing, we had originally pre booked and paid for two nights, but after a bit of an argument (which the manager stated that people normally complain about no hot water!) managed to get a refund for the second night and checked into the local Premier Inn, I have never been so pleased to stay in a Premier Inn!

To evaluate, stay away form this awful place!

Dirty (stained carpet, brown curtains, yellow stained white furniture), noisy (Walls shake when person walks in room next door), unhealthy (room is infested with ants and gets worst when u start cooking), super small. Very expensive to stay in a slump like this one! Won't recommend to anyone
