I stayed at this hotel for one night only. However, in staying at other Travelodge Hotels before, I am in the position to compare this to my previous experiences and can conclude that this is the best Travelodge I have stayed in.
What really makes the difference is the up-grade in the decor and cleanliness. Many other Travelodge Hotels seem to be going a bit downhill in this respect so, in a way, you get what you play for, which is a very basic hotel. However, this site has made an effort to try and be more modern in regards to the layout and decor of the rooms, including a flat screen TV. Also, they have upgraded the beds so I got a good quality sleep. In addition, free breakfast was provided, and although it is limited, it's enough to line the stomach before heading out so was happy with this service. Check in and check out were both quick and easy.
However, there were some points which need further consideration.
1. The single rooms although modern are still quite small, with a limited wardrobe area and no draws so be prepared to keep things in your suitcase. This is still a very basic hotel so do not expect a mini-bar and complimentary bathroom toiletries etc (There is a kettle and tea/coffee)
2. Although the bathroom is more modern, the shower area is flawed causing the bathroom to potential be covered with water on the floor. A poor design and they need to rethink this
3. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that is not facing the high street as it can get noisy outside (fortunately for me, I carry earplugs everywhere so managed ok)
However, overall, this was a good stay. I know Stratford very well so I had no issues finding the hotel. But if you were a tourist from outside London, this is a good hotel in a good location for a good price, especially as the train station is a 10 minute walk which can get you to any location. So I would recommend this hotel and think that it is a good deal considering the price.
