“Good value for London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Right across from Gloucester Road subway station, clean and fairly-priced (in London terms!) hotel for modest accomodation. My single room was larger than what I am accustomed to while staying in London, and the large and comfy bathroom was a real exception for London. But, I don't believe all the rooms are as large, and some do not even have own toilet/shower.
Free (and properly functioning) wi-fi, satisfactory continental breakfast, friendly and helpful reception staff were some of the other bonuses.

Room Tip: Make sure you pay/get a room with own toilet/shower, as this is not clearly marked when booking thro...

We have stayed in the location of the Montana Hotel 2 years ago. The hotel is old hotel but the Location is Brilliant..A short walk to the Tube station, Shops, and everything else a family could want..We are a family of 4..the room was tight for the 4 of us..but we were out all the time in this wonderful city for the 7 nights we were there. But the big plus for this hotel is the Staff..Very Helpful, and very willing to assist you on your holiday..we arrived at 7.00am from our long flight from Australia, and our room was ready and was offered complimentary breakfast, which came in very handy..We Would Definitely Stay again..

We stayed a overnight at this hotel on our way to Lanzarote. The hotel was clean and the staff at the reception were efficient with the check in. The rooms were small but enough for our stay. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The rooms we had had individually adjustable airconditioning system. There was a mini fridge, and had tea/coffee making facilities. The room had a flat screen tv. There was a complimentery WiFi throughout the hotel and worked very well. The bathroom was small with complimentary soaps but no shampoo. The continental breakfast was good and enough for our purposes. You can get a full english breakfast if you pay extra. The staff were friendly and helpful- There is a indian restaurant at this hotel and we ate this restaurant and were given 20% reduction. The food was great. The rate is resonable and overall a good hotel.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

This was my 5th or 6th stay over a twelve year period. The hotel is much improved. Our room was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The room was on the main floor just beyond the kitchen and another service area. It probably was a service room converted to a bedroom. The bathroom was small with a shower, no tub, but adequate. The bathroom was extremely hot, so much so that if we left the door to the bathroom open the room became stifling. The staff knew this. They gave us the remote for an additional air conditioner when I complained. The air conditioning units only put out freezing air. The toilet only flushed erratically. That is, the handle felt like it would break no matter how much pressure we put on it. Then later, it would flush. The safe hadn't been re-set. The person at the desk blamed "the girls" for not checking on this. The TV remote worked erratically. It took a day for it to be fixed. This hotel needs a checklist for the maids, so details aren't overlooked. There is a nice Indian restaurant in the hotel and breakfast with fruit and dry cereal, toast, and lots of tea or coffee came with the room. Eggs or an English breakfast were available at an additional cost. The location is right near the tube and in walking distance of the Victoria and Albert and Science museums. There is a bank and internet cafe across the street.

I did lots of shopping around for a nice hotel that I could afford for a week in London, and I loved the Montana Hotel. My daughter is in school at Imperial College, so she was just two blocks away. The hotel is a short walk from the Gloucester Road tube station, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Kensington Palace. The hotel is clean, nicely appointed, safe, and the staff is helpful. My single room was small, but hey, this is London. The breakfast room is also nice with a good selection of food. The hotel also gave me a good discount for booking for a week's stay. Some people complain about the lack of in room bathrooms, but if you want to have an in-room bath, you can certainly request that. I will definitely stay here when I return to London again.

Some people might have been disappointed by the absence of toilets/showers in some rooms. When you are aware of it, you can focus on the advantages of this hotel, in terms of location, in terms of cleanliness and helpful staff.
The common shower/bathroom is clean so no complaints.
Breakfast is varied and correct for this kind of hotel.

The location was great as a short walk from the tube, the room was clean and basic but what do you expect for the price. Cant remember his name but the Geordie man who worked on reception was very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was great and included in the price, if your looking for a base for a couple of nights to just get changed and rest whilst you spend your days exploring this it the ideal place.
And for those that want shampoo and shower gel my message to you is.......... bring your own!

Room Tip: Ground floor room number 500 I shared with 4 of my friends and there was ample room for us all!
