“The Usual High Class Rip Off”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

With our friend travelling from Kos in Greece to run the London Marathon, my Birthday and celebrating getting engaged my fiance and i decided to save hard and treat ourselves to a bit of luxury for the weekend in London and chose Apex Temple Court as our place to stay for its location and the write up about the hotel. When booking we were told we would be upgraded to a Deluxe room and have access to the VIP lounge to make the weekend special on behalf of the hotel. This was a lovely gesture.. Until we got there and booked in. We were told the person who had taken the booking wasn't available so the origional room was all we would get and no VIP access allowed.disapointment started to set in..we were given a voucher to compensate which was a drink on them....... not each.. just one drink.i Questioned this decision and they decided that a drink each would be a better idea............ A £10 voucher was supposed to be issued for booking direct.....This had not been given and i had to ask for it and made to feel a bit embarressed. Evening meal and breakfast were part of the first night booking...Being charged for our drinks being served was not expected, But getting a bill for breakfast and having to question it before getting it sorted was the last time i was going to get ripped off by this hotel.. so nothing else was used or purchased from there. we stayed our second night then checked out early sunday morning with the feeling that we will not be booking an expensive hotel again soon.. luckily the weekend, the company we kept and the marathon were fantastic so made up for our dissapointment at feeling so uncomfortable in a place where we just wanted to experience something different..Rich people and buisness people might not worry about these things hence why these hotels get away with such treatment.. But a working person who has saved hard for something special thinks a little different..........................

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post your review following your stay over the London marathon weekend. Generally we always try to select guests that are on a celebratory weekend to upgrade, however we can never guarantee the availability on the day to be able to promise this at the time of making a booking. When securing your reservation the operative should have explained that a request would put forward for an upgrade. With a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room or above we do not offer any access to the Club Lounge. I have addressed this misinformation you were given with the reservation team that handled your booking to making sure it does not happen again in the future.

We appreciate your comments regarding the attention of our service levels and would like to apologise that these areas fell below your expectations on this occasion. Please be assured that I have discussed your comments with the team and they too would like to join me in apologising for your below par experience. I will send a private message to you separately and hope that we will be able to further redress your concerns.

Kind Regards

Karl Mitchell

I stayed at the Apex Temple Court for 1 night as I was attending a legal conference the next day. The enterance to the hotel was not that easy to find but once inside it is lovely. My room whihc was on the 1st floor and away from any noise was stunning. The room had all that you could wish for in a hotel of this price in Central London. I will certainly stay again.

this was our first visit to the hotel, and the staff and concierge were incredibly helpful and accommodating - even getting us a dinner reservation at a very popular restaurant the night before! The location is perfect, very walkable to Covent Garden, West End, St. Paul's, the Thames, Trafalgar Square, Borough Market, etc.
Our room was really nice - great big comfy bed, Bose sound dock, big walk in shower and towel warmers, but it was on the east end of the hotel, looking right into an office building being renovated, and each evening and morning garbage was VERY loudly picked up in the alley outside our room.
Free wireless was terrific, and the TV had loads of great channels. Breakfast was very expensive, so we opted out, but picked up some stuff from the Tesco down the street and kept it in our mini fridge instead.

Room Tip: don't face east into the alley unless you want to hear the garbage truck and look right into an...

This hotel is in the right location irrespective of whether you are a tourist or on business. Close to enough to key places of interest yet away from the noisy bustle of the shopping district or main thoroughfares. I enjoyed my week's stay at the hotel. The pricing for breakfast is a bit on the steep side but it is good.
My only disappointment was I did not get a chance to use the gym.

The hotel was is in a great location, staff are good and facilities were excellent. Didn't try the food other than breakfast, which was good. Made good use of the gym. Bed comfortable and no street noise.
