I grew up not too far from here, but moved away many years ago and had not visited the park probably in 15 years, it has changed immensley in that time, and the authorities seemed to have put alot of energy into relandscaping it in its more frequented parts, particularly the part along the river Thames. where the pagoda has been in the near past, is now all lovely shrubbery and colours, i was really impressed, and was quite proud to see the park that i grew up playing in has evolved into a 21st century masterpiece of outdoor city entertainment.
I loved the whole vibe around the place, that you knew you were in a thriving, vibrant, multicultural city, and that as a public place, everything goes, and no one will bother anyone else. only a place like battersea with such contrasting classes and cultures could pull off such a beautiful place.
On a practical note though, the park has many amenities such as childrens swings, sculptures, boating lake, zoo, cafes, sports facilities, and to top it all, one of the most iconic walkways in the world, the walk along the river thames, there is nothing quite like it, go at sunset, if you are a romantic, or even just love beauty, it will last in your memory forever.
