“Sensational”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We booked this hotel based on a special available through bookings.com, the rate included 3 nights accommodation and continental breakfast each morning. This was our last stop of our 5 week holiday before heading home to Oz and I wanted to treat us to an extra special stay. As a family group traveling on a budget, this stay in London was our one super extravagant splurge and it couldn't have been more perfect. We had a family room which had two double beds, which our 11 year old thought was fantastic and made the most of. Our only complaint was lack of space for storage, but hey we're in London not Australia - so don't expect rooms to be overly big. On the plus side for me this meant that the husband and son had to make sure they didn't just dump things willy nilly as they are wont to do. Tucked into a side street opposite New Scotland Yard, St Ermin's couldn't be more conveniently located. Less than a minute from two entrances to St James underground, within 5 minutes walk to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Parliament House in one direction; and 5 minutes walk to Buckingham Palace in the other direction.

For me the hotel was something out of a story book, and when our taxi pulled up into the courtyard on our arrival it just took our breath away. We were all entranced. We were met with extremely warm and friendly welcomes from all the staff and check-in was a breeze. I couldn't speak more highly of the staff, especially our two doorman - who couldn't have been more helpful answering our questions and providing advice. Thanks ever so much!

My husband always turns his nose up when he sees the words "continental breakfast", because as far as he's concerned that's what he has at home. However "continental breakfast" here is nothing like that. Offerings included cereals, yoghurts, fruit, pastries, breads, cheeses, cold cuts, muffins and the list goes on. So if you're having to pay for the breakfast it was great value and there would be no need to upgrade to the full breakfast.

I highly recommend staying here for a luxurious treat and I can't wait to experience another MGallery Collection hotel as they have now become my favourite.

Dear Madam,
Your comments regarding your stay are wonderful to read and thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review. I am so pleased that you were impressed by the grandness of the courtyard and entrance, we are fortunate to be in such a distinctive and individual listed building.
Although Australia is a fair distance away, we truly hope that you and your family will return to stay with us again one day.
Wishing you a safe trip home,
Warm regards

Definite wow factor on arrival in lobby/reception but oh my goodness how cold can a bedroom be? Despite fiasco over breakfast - was it/wasn't it included in the rate - I would definitely return ....but in the summer or with a hot water bottle.

My husband and I stayed for a week from 13th Jan. I had booked a superior Queen plus and we were upgraded to a Deluxe King on arrival as according to the gentleman at the desk we would be needing a larger room seeing as we were going to stay for a week. The room was on 4th floor overlooking the garden at the entrance.
Everything was spotless and remained so during the whole of our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was service with a smile.
I cannot comment on the food as we went on a room basis only. However 3 mins walk away we hit upon a little cafe called Exlnt which provided an excellent full English breakfast for £4.95.
The hotel was central and we ended up walking to the West End on various occasions. As other reviewers have mentioned it is also very near to Westminster, Whitehall, London Eye and just round the corner from St James tube station.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Dear Madam,
Thank you for your very complementary review, I am glad to read that you had such a pleasant stay with us throughout the week. We are lucky to be in a very central location and by walking from the back of the hotel through St James’ Park, it is easy to be in Trafalgar Square or Piccadilly within 10 minutes. We hope that you will return to stay with us again and perhaps next time you will try our new menu in the Caxton Grill.
Thank you for recommending us to others, it is very much appreciated.
Kind regards

We booked this hotel based on tripadviosr review & spent 2 nights in London after our trip in Paris. The room was marvelous, spacious enough with duper super comfort bed. First surprise, i got free champagne & chocolate when I first entered the room. Well, you may think what so special about free champagne where you probably can get in other hotel, but what make me feel so sweet is the champagne (chilled with ice), wine glass & chocolate are reasonable quite good quality..hhmm..at least suit my taste. Second surprise, when i got out of the room for sight seeing & be back the second time, the housekeeping changed the room setting (can't remember exactly what they had done but the room looked a bit different.) this round what touch my heart is the little bee shape chocolate and a bottle of 'sleep spray' nicely presented on top of my pillow, and a comfortable slipper arranged (with a white floor map underneath) beside my bed. Another point worth to mention, the hotel room has multi-country plug built in on the desk so i can charge all my electronic items at the same time.

i hereby give my compliment to the hotel as they are so considerate in minor issue that make my stay a wonderful and memorable one. We paid Euro1200 per night for hotel in Paris but I'd say it is still not as good as St.Ermin hotel.

We took Eurostar from Paris to London. Took a taxi arrived at St Ermin Hotel costed me about £70. As soon as the taxi arrived hotel entrance, (my foot not even step out from the taxi), we were greet by the hotel friendly staff and assisted me on my 6 pieces of big luggage. They had very good concierge staff and showed me clear & useful direction on London sight seeing. When I was seeking direction, I accidentally lost my scalf at hotel lobby. But no worry.. i managed to find my lovely scalf (presented by the hotel concierge staff) immediately when I walked in & returned to hotel in the same evening. So here was my third surprise, there were so many people walk in & out but the hotel staff still can remember the scalf was belong to me?!

Our rate did not include breakfast. However due to cold weather, we choose to have our breakfast in the hotel. It included a plate of hot stuff, then the rest like bread & cereal were free flow on the bar. I'd say the breakfast at the hotel didn't have much variety but you pay for the service. The bar was cosy and nice ambience.

The hotel had free Wifi. Located next to St.James underground, which was very convenient location. We walked to Buckingham Palace, took underground to Oxford Street, Canary Wharf, Portobello market etc. In short, I strongly recommend this hotel for others. To St Ermin Hotel management & staff, you deserve all the praise! Based on the price I paid, you make me feel more content than Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

Myself and husband were staying in London midweek for a special occasion. I chose the hotel as it was conveniently located to our evening venue. Easily accessible from St James tube station on.foot if that is your preferred mode of travel. The hotel is tucked just off the street and it makes for a magical courtyard effect that looked very pretty at night. The entrance lobby was a real wow factor and the staff working there were very friendly and helpful. The bar was very cosy and cool, we had great cocktail service. Breakfast was the best I have ever had, though I wouldn't necessarily upgrade to Full English again as the continental was amazing and I barely had room for everything. Slight negative was the size of the room, but the bathroom was a good size and I prefer that. It was a double queen but would have been better sized with one bed! We paid £150 including breakfast and frankly it was a bargain. Highly recommended for a luxurious getaway.

We stayed at St Ermin's for a night just before Christmas in a family room. The hotel looked spectacular with all the Christmas lights, especially outside. Upon arrival we received an extremely warm and friendly greeting. Indeed this was the case throughout our brief stay; the staff were lovely and very helpful. We liked our romm, although there wasn't a view. It was spacious and did the job for my husband, me and the 2 children. I can't comment on breakfast as we had a room only rate. it was a good value room and the location, 2 minutes form the tube was great. We were able to walk to lots of sights as it's such a central location. I would definitely stay here again when we revisit London next year and I can thoroughly recommend it.

Stayed for 3 nights at this lovely hotell - and there is much to like. The lobby is just stunning, and the entrance leading up to the hotell is beautiful. Smiling and quick receptionsists, nice rooms (bit small, but that did not bother us), big and comfortable beds, a good continental breakfast (including an excellent carrot cake) and everything looked clean and tidy.

2 reasons I am not able to rate the hotell as excellent:
1) No eggs included in the continental breakfast. My wife wanted 1 boiled egg. It had to be ordered from the kitchen and cost us 5 GBP.

2) A few days before travelling I sent the following message to the hotell:
-------------------
"...My LeClub Accorhotels loyality card number is xxxxxx.
We will be arriving a little late on Friday - around 22:00. I would very much appriciate if you could hold good rooms for us fulfilling any (prefarably all) of these criterias:
1) Only double beds (not twin)
2) We would appriciate to get rooms close to each other (adjacent or accross the hall)
3) We would very much prefer a high floor
4) Would really apriciate a front courtyard entrance view (coupled with high floor).
5) Extra happy if NOT adacent/close to service doors/elevators or stairs.
6) Any room upgrades would of course be greatly appriciated :) "
-------------------
I got an e-mail confirming the wishes were registrered. Well - we got a double bed (not twin), but our rooms were on different floors, low floors (2nd and 3rd), not really a view of the courtyard entrance, next to the stairs/elevators and no room upgrades. They actually failed to deliver on any of my wishes (apart from double bed which really was a part of the booking). I am a light sleeper, so beeing informed by the talking elevator when the doors were opening and closing was not excatly a part of my wishlist. I really don`t want to rate this hotel as average - never has average been this close to excellent.
