“Very basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

I've been there twice recently. The first time I found it basic but accepted it because the price was quite good but the second time I found it really too basic for the price. The bedding is not bad , is clean, but the walls are really dirty as well as the carpets. The furniture in the rooms is really simple and not up to date at all. They could do an effort on this specially on the lighting; For little money you can do a lot today.
The bathrooms are on the contrary quite good and well equipped with nice thick towels; The wifi works quite well, depends where you are.
There is no lift and that could be a problem when you have a big suitcase.
The hotel looks more like a youthhostel in fact with all the laundery remaining in the corridors for a long time in the morning.
The location is ok not far from St Pancras but around the hotel it's quite poor for coffeeshops and restaurants.
The staff is lovely.
With the poor quality of the rooms and the dirtiness of the walls and carpets they really have to do something, also for putting new lamps in the room.If they don't make any effort about that the price will be definitevely too high for the place.

Room Tip: better choose first floor if you 've got a big suitcase and want better wifi but I had a better...

Great location two minutes from Chalk Farm tube station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Rooms were fairly basic and small,no bedside tables and minimal toiletries and limited hospitality tray. They were very clean and bed was reasonably comfortable.
We asked for a quiet room and got one on the top floor at the back of the hotel, didn't hear any traffic or any other noise at night and as it is on the cornet or busy streets with bars this was much appreciated! Downside there is no lift ! (3 floors!)
The hall and stairways are a bit dingy, more like a hostel than a hotel, needed a lick of paint, room looked to be newly decorated.
The brakfast was good value and served in the coffee shop,
A good place to stay for a couple of nights, if on a budget,

Room Tip: As for a room at the back.

This hotel is very close to Camden lock market and right opposite the roundhouse and it is reasonable for central London, the breakfast good and cheap and the staff are helpful and friendly. So far so good but being opposite a pub and next to a main road it is noisy and the rooms are small.
So if you want a hotel in Camden don't want to spend a fortune and your only staying for night or two, go ahead it's ok. But don't expect luxury!

Clean comfortable and affordable hotel. Stayed here for Mika concert right opposite at The Roundhouse, close to bars and restaurants and underground. Friendly staff and good sized rooms. Didnt have breakfast as there were many places to eat in the area

We chose this hotel mainly because of the location close to the Round house and value for money. A bit of trouble confirming our booking with the hotel on the phone before hand due to having booked with a booking website and not the hotel directly. Staff were very helpful with this issue and sorted everything out and contacted me more than once to let me know all was confirmed and sorted.

Hotel was so easy to find, as soon as we got out of the tube station, walked a few 100 yards down the road and it was there in front of us. Check in was easy and quick and the reception staff were polite and so helpful. Our room was basic, but had enough room for 2 people and a decent TV and was clean. The bathroom was tired but it was clean and all we needed. Location was amazing, we could see the Roundhouse from our window so perfect for what we needed. A good nights sleep and definitely worth staying here.

Had breakfast in the cafe which is attached to the hotel - very nice cooked breakfast and plenty of cooked to order food. Free wifi was also in the hotel and this was of great use to us.

All in all a very pleasant stay and great staff. I would stay here again on a future trip to London.

This may not be a five star hotel but provides a great value for money base for visiting Camden. We were here to see a show at the Roundhouse Theatre, which is quite literally only just across the road and it couldn't have been more perfectly situated. Chalk Farm tube station is less than two minutes walk away and getting to Camden Lock Market takes less than five.

While our room was compact and rather basic it was beautifully clean and the bed was particularly comfortable. Not the sort of room you'd want to lie around for hours relaxing in - but then if you are in Camden why would you even consider doing this?! However as a place to go back to and sleep it was more than adequate enough.

As a person whose tastes in hotels generally head towards the higher end of the market I was somewhat hesitatant in staying at a more budget-friendly hotel (I was persuaded by a friend that we didn't need anything more fancy) but I'd certainly stay here again particularly considering the bargain price and superb location.
