Renovated pub with modern decor but at the same time the once-concealed Victorian tiles are now exposed in all their glory. So, pleasant surroundings in which to eat good food and drink good ale. I had a delicious chorizo roast potatoes with confit of chicken followed by one of the most amazingly tasty - and novel - deserts I have ever had: chocolate, hazlenut and banana calzone with chocolate chip ice cream. Absolutely superb. When it arrived on the table, the calzone was so large I thought I'd never eat it. But I did. Both the calzone and ice cream were really tasty in their own right, but when combined in the same dish the result was heaven! Thoroughly recommended. Moreover, I went during a lunchtime with my daughters, their partners and my grandaughter who is only a few weeks old. Two other babies were also there with their parents so the pub clearly welcomes young children (if accompanied by adults!).
