Description: Established in 1863, The Markham Inn became a place where explorers and travelers, such as Sir Clements Robert Markham, Secretary of The Royal Geographic Society, would congregate to exchange stories and make plans. Chelsea’s less intrepid visitors won’t need a compass to find their way – The Markham is centrally located on Chelsea Green. The Markham offers an all-day, European menu with a special focus on lovingly prepared, seasonal and British sourced food.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

Great location, food has gotten better, staff really try, but management has really gone down hill. Very disappointing experience.

“Terrible, will not return”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Markham Inn is a restaurant, not a pub. As such mid-week it lacked atmosphere. Decor is quite nice, we ate in the bar. Wine arrived quickly, but it was sent back (wrong colour gave it away!), Sauvignon Blanc was nice at c.£7. However the food was terrible. We both had fish (passable but not great) & chips (not cooked, had to send back for some almost equally uncooked) for £14 each. We were late for the cinema or would have complained - a £50 bill overall. Will not return.

“Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Tucked into a corner of Chelsea Green, The Markham is out of the way only for those not familiar with the amazing dining available in this hot little gastro-enclave behind the Kings Road. I had an early dinner/very late lunch one evening -- I was actually the first person in the dining room -- and starving. The menu was full of solid menu choices featuring British ingredients. Lovely decor and attentive service. When in London again, I'll definitely return.

“Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We arrived at an awkward time of day, too late for lunch, too early for dinner, but starving. Most other restaurants in the area were closed. Greeted well, taken to our table, freshly squeezed orange juice, good service all afternoon, Large portions of steak sandwich or burger. Hit the spot. Value was hard for us to tell as we don't eat in London very often.

“Brunch Buzz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

This is a great little place, filled with trendy young people drinking fresh orange juice having their friendly catch ups, or just sitting with the weekend papers and enjoying their eggs. The menu is perfect for brunch! The portions are generous and good value for money. I would suggest this place for lunch and dinner too and is buzzy throughout the day. The steak sandwich was more than genrous, as was the club sandwich. Cozy and fun you willl want to while away your free time here.

The manager was happy to accomodate any request (air conditioning to be turned down... it is winter almost now afterall.... no need to freeze inside and out).

Great hot chocolate- recommend you ask for a cup though as bit hard to drink something hot out of glass with no handle.
