“What has happened to Attilo?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

We have used this restaurant over a number of years. We returned on 12/12/13 for lunch having per-booked a table for 2pm. Upon arrival, we were left outside in the cold even though there were empty tables. The attitude of the staff was dismissive. After asking three times, we finally were thrown a few scraps of bread to dip into the balsamic/oil dip. The closed sign was then put on the door. We really should have left at this point. The service continued to be dismissive, uncaring & totally out of order. We all had the fish for our main course. All three dishes must have been pre-cooked as they were served immediately. They were very dry, unappetising & tasteless. The home made puddings could have been shop bought! We were ignored by the staff throughout the meal, they spent the whole time talking amongst themselves. In the space of one hour, we had spent £101.00 without so much as a please or a thankyou. Oh dear what a real shame as this used to be such a lovely restaurant, where has all the charm, good food & service gone?

“Excellent service & food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

8 of us ate here at lunchtime and were very satisfied with the food and the service - and the value for money.

“Rude service and rancid fish”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

This is the worst restaurant I have had the misfortune of eating in for many years. I was part of a large group enticed by the very reasonably priced set menu. I ordered sardines to start and was served whole deep-fried battered sprats, which were inedible. When I complained I was told I would need to pay for a replacement starter. I chose the whitebait, which turned out to be rancid. How this restaurant is still in business, I have no idea. But I could not recommend it less.

“Never again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

We booked a table on the phone for 4pm and the timing was very important as we had a flight to catch that night. When we showed up, the restaurant was closed. We went in, and they said we should come back in a hour when they'll reopen. We said we made a reservation and asked why do they take reservations for a time when they're not open and they pretended they never had the phonecall! The most annoying was their attitude, they didn't give a damn. Idiots!

“A local but pretty average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

On the spur of the moment (after living in the area for 5 years) we popped into Attilio's for lunch today. Friendly enough welcome though never a fan of being encouraged off the street directly. We ordered the 2 course lunch menu (£12.95 each). Food was fine (we both had pasta mains) but both lacked any complexity. It is an atmospheric place but felt like it was quite touristy. If you are in the Clerkenwell area try Santore in Exmouth Market instead - this is the real deal.
