“Great Location Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Westminster in Mid August. We were a little phased by the size of the bedroom but once settled in realised it was well designed and very comfortable. The bathroom was wonderful - great shower , plenty of basin area storage. Blue Boar bar is a great spot for a drink. Proximity to parks (St James and Green ) for an early morning walk. The tube is close by but it is a great place to walk from to see the sights of London. After usually staying around the Oxford St area on previous trips we found this to be a really good change of scene. Staff were friendly and efficient.

This is another one of those modern designer hotels made to look great but not very practical to live in! some important details: The room is dark, the bathroom even darker. There is nowhere to plug in the hair dryer close to a mirror, I had to empty the bar and plug the dryer behind the beautiful expresso machine, with a 3 foot cord... The rain-shower may be great for men, but if you don't want to get your hair wet? Ah yes, the hand held shower is the solution, but the short glass panel doesn't prevent you from creating a lake in the bathroom - (explains the absence of an outlet to plug in your hair dryer). There are no towel bars and the vanity is 3 inches from the wall, creating a real hazard when your bottle of lotion drops to the marble floor. The closet is ok if you only have one change of clothes, it is lilliputian... The bed was super comfortable and the service exceptional, but this doesn't make up for the impracticality of the design.

Room Tip: From conversations I had with other women in my group, it would appear all the rooms have the same d...

I travel only with IHG brand as much as I can. This is one of the Best by far that I stayed at. The lococation is great. From the moment you walk in you know you are in good hands. From the door man to the front desk the staff is phenomenal. The rooms are very nice and airy. This was my first stay and will return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Had a very good experience at this hotel. Service and excellence made the experience very pleasant.

I had a large luxury room and all staff very helpful, Would stay here again.

I really liked the location as was next to tube station and close to the palace. More or a business hotel rather than family holiday.

Room Tip: Pricey but nice and new.

We loved The Intercontinental Westminster. It's in the perfect location; slightly removed from the crowds of Park Lane yet mere blocks away from some of London's most iconic sights. Our room was the perfect sanctuary to return to after a long day of sightseeing,. Housekeeping is top notch at the hotel; the beds are incredible (what kind of pillows? I must find them here in the States!) and the bathroom and Moulton Brown amentiies are 5-Star. We especially loved breakfast in the Club Lounge. The staff there was extremely attentive. Thanks to Maria Santana who's help was invaluable during our stay. And the Concierges are fantastic as well.

I stayed in this hotel with my family in August as we wanted somewhere central and close to the sites that was also modern and comfortable, and the location was perfect. It is minutes away on foot to Westminster Abbey and Parliament and is directly opposite St. James' Tube Station, with St. James' park just around the corner.

My sister and I stayed in a twin room whilst my parents stayed in a double room and both were lovely. The decor is classy and the bathroom was also gorgeous. I had the best night's sleep whilst staying here as the bed was one of the comfiest i've ever slept in and the room had electric blackout curtains.

The bathroom itself is luxurious and spacious with lovely toiletries and other bits and bobs that are provided (shower caps, sewing kit, spare bobbles etc).

The staff are also fantastic. Reception staff were all very welcoming and very knowledgeable, and not just of the immediate area as some hotel staff are! It was also nice to have your traditional type doormen at the front of the hotel who were great with luggage, flagging down taxi's and like the reception staff, able to make recommendations of good places to eat/go.

Although we didn't eat there, we did enjoy drinks in the bar on a couple of occasions, and the bar staff were also great.

We all agreed we would definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to London as the service provided is definitely more than worth the price that you pay.

This was my second stay at this new hotel. It is at the higher end of the pricing structure applied by London Hotels. However, it represents good value in relation to the quality of the hotel and services offered.

I was on business in London and the location of the hotel St. James’s Park tube station is ideal for connections across London. Last time I stayed in a room facing the road and traffic noise was an issue. However this time I was in a room at the rear of the hotel and it was very quiet.

I had been upgraded to an executive room which was modern, stylish, and well equipped. The TV was housed in a very large glass fronted cabinet which was very reflective and occasionally distracting. The bed was extremely comfortable and equipped with a collection of cushions, both decorative and functional. There is a coffee machine and tea making facilities.

There is the usual provision of accessories such as shoe cleaning pads, needle and thread kits etc. the information pack is contained in a leather bound folder, good quality wine glasses are provided and the room has an feeling of luxury about it. For a hotel the bathroom was enormous, with a full sized bath and wet room shower. It was tastefully styled and luxurious.

The staff are attentive and helpful. I really appreciated the call from reception after I had settled into the room querying if everything was ok with the room and offering further assistance if required.

The bar has a great atmosphere, again the staff are excellent. It's well designed with a blend of seating. Some is open and allows good views onto the road outside and other seating is quiet and discreet if required. The bar menu is varied and the food that we ordered was very well presented and tasty.

I agree with other reviewers in that the hotel deserves the numerous positive reviews that it has received. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.
