“Great loaction, clean and perfect for what we wanted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

We stayed at this hotel Saturday and Sunday night whilst in London to watch the marathon. The hotel is tucked away down a little side street and although there are lots of building works going on nearby this wasn’t a problem at all. We were warned there might be some noise Monday morning but we weren’t disturbed at all. Our room was overlooking St Swithens Lane. The room was as you would expect. Clean and comfortable and the shower was very good. There was no bath mat supplied but we asked for an extra towel and this was placed in our room no problem. The reception staff were friendly and happy to help and we left our cases behind reception after check out as our train was no until 4pm. The location was perfect for us, just a couple of minutes from bank and Cannon Street Stations where you can access several of the underground line and the DLR at Bank. As previous reviewers have mentioned much of the surrounding area is closed at the weekend however there are plenty of eating places just a short walk away across the river in London Bridge. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again. The location is ideal as central London is so close.

Stayed here for one night prior to the London Marathon. Found the hotel very easily although it was tucked away down a side street. I would say that this hotel is on the budget end of the scale but having said that, the room was clean tidy and contained everything we needed. Staff on reception were very helpful although you could check in via a touchscreen. However, we felt dealing with a human was far more personable! The hotel was close to many facilities including coffee shops, eateries, local tourist attractions and tube stops making our whole weekend fairly stress free.
I would definitely consider staying here next time I am doing the marathon....or even sooner.

We needed a twin room - which unfortunately meant an inside room and disable room
If I was in a wheelchair or disabled - I would feel very let down by this room
The shower was awful, the sink tiny
We were warned of the building works, so can't say anything much about that
For one night, this was fine
If I was staying more than one night, I would of changed rooms
That said - it's very well placed for any business area around Bank
Would stay again but if I was disabled - I wouldn't

We stayed at this Travelodge to attend a friend's birthday party in London and found the hotel offered us everything we wanted. The hotel entrance is in a small courtyard off St Swithin's Lane (almost opposite Cannon Street Station). Although there was a lot of construction work going on nearby, due to the relatively secluded location of the hotel, the noise was not at all intrusive and easily blocked out by closing the windows in the bedroom. The small reception area was clean and tidy and welcoming and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming and could not have been more helpful during our stay. The staff members are obviously well trained and it shows. The room was clean and comfortable and offered everything we required. The requirement to use the room key to obtain entrance to the rest of the hotel from the reception area was very reassuring from the security angle. The hotel is very well situated in the heart of the City of London with easy access to restaurants, bars, sites of interest and transport links. The only minus is the lack of any air conditioning in the hotel, and though not too much of a problem in April, I imagine it could become very warm in the bedrooms in the summer months. I would certainly stay here again when visiting London, and I would highly recommend this Travelodge to anyone looking for good city centre accommodation at a reasonable price

The two of us stayed in room 217 from april 11th to 17th, for our spring holidays.

Perfect location, close to the Bank and Cannon Street underground stations, not too far away from Monument and St Paul's Cathedral, and 10mn by foot to Liverpool Street Station for the Stansted Express train (Stansted airport)! Lots of shops nearby, including Boots, M&S and various takeaway spots.

Very good prices in the City, lovely room away from traffic (building works, which we'd been warned about, are temporary and did not bother us). We had far enough space to open both suitcases and store away our shopping treasures ;) The bathroom was clean and functional, although it could use a better ventilation system to prevent dampness.

The amazing staff made us feel welcome, the lady was very helpful for nice dining spots (careful though, lots of establishments in the city are closed on sunday evening, and DON'T go to McDonald's on Cannon St, friendly advice), and always asked if we needed anything and knew what do to and how to reach the interesting parts of London. We were very pleased to find a kettle with coffee, tea and sugar in the room.

We will definitely come running back :)

Room Tip: 217 was great, on the (quiet) street side, on St Swithin's lane.

Small hotel with a big welcome by the very friendly staff.
Convenient position, and yet tucked away from sight, and away from traffic noise.
Building works in immediate area which we were warned of, but did not prove a problem during our 2 night stay (Thurs/Fri)

Travelodge in St Swithins lane is in a good location, with friendly professional reception staff, and the rooms was spotlessly clean, with everything you needed for a short stay. Would recommend especially if you like to stay in the City of London
