“Perfect budget hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

As a base to visit family and friends in London this could not have been better for me. It's a short walk to Bethnal Green underground station on the Central Line so you're soon able to be in the heart of London. Everything was immaculately clean and comfortable. What I most appreciated was the welcome I received from the staff who, having been informed that I had just got in from a 24 hour flight from Sydney, made every effort to organise an early check-in for me and were wonderfully friendly.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

If, like us, you have children at uni in east London (London School of Fashion and Metropole Uni), this little hotel in Bethnall Green makes a visit relatively inexpensive.
We get there quickly from Liverpool Street station, to drop off our bags (2pm) and to meet the girls, and from there easily walk to their Halls in Stepney and Hoxton.
They have a 24-hour concierge service so returning late is no problem, and they are pretty helpful with info about bus routes outside the front door.
Our room was pretty small - comfy double-bed and sidetable and ensuite, with a TV and free wifi, but there was no chair to put clothes on (floor had to do!). A broken sidetable lamp was quickly replaced.
The radiator was very hot and could be adjusted to suit, which was important on our stay (31 January) as it was freezing cold outside, and the duvet was rather thin. But the white curtain and lacey thing was so thin that, on lights out, it was still bright (too much) with street lighting. The double-glazing did not keep the wail of emergency vehicles from waking us up (Hospital is close by), or the hissing of bus brakes - surprising!
After falling to sleep, we were suddenly and frighteningly woken awake at 7.20 by a fire alarm in our room - wow! Some builder had lit a cigarette, apparantly - phew! No need to stand in the icy weather outdoors in just a coat! A one-off?
Breakfast was great - a super choice in the bright rear room, where there was full kitchen facilities to help oneself conveniently. There was everything the wide range of foreigners wouold like to start the day with.
We were able to hang around in our room, or in the reception on the PC till noon before departure - others had left for work much earlier. This uited us as our kisda were no early risers! We'd come back again, but wish they's fit thicker curtains for a better night's sleep.
We paid just £41 for the two of us, as a late booking.

Room Tip: Away from the road for quietness

Clever use of the word Plaza would indicate a level of service/accomodation associated with same,do not be fooled, this is a budget hotel in very sense. Can have no complaints about the actual room i was given in terms of cleanliness, however, nowhere to hang a suit/jacket(not even a chair!)or even a coat hook. Reception area was populated by owner/managers family watching TV did not fill me with any great feeling of welcome. Breakfast was acceptable (given the price) but the Room serves as staff canteen as well. In all, OK for One Night, providing you have planned somewhere to eat and have a drink
