“Terrible attitude of management - NEVER STAY AGAIN”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

At recent stay in August 2012 rooms were not ready on arrival therefore my arty left luggage with concierge. On return a few hours later the concierge brought the cases from the luggage room for however 1 was not mine. Durring this time a very loud bang was heard emanating from the luggage room. The concierge returned to the room and 2nd time lucky returned with the correct item, my wifes Aluminium Zero Halliburton vanity case which now sported a deep gouge in the corner. Having complained to the concierge he offered no apology and would not accept the hotel had caused the damage. On referral to the duty manager I received the "luggage left at owners risk" statement given. Not happy with this response the duty manager and a colleague visited my room to photograph the damage. On check out the following day no apology and no offer to repair the damage was given. Having no satisfaction from the hotel staff I requested my complaint be forwarded to senior management for a response. 1 week later on the 1st Sept an email arrives advising of the contact details for the Group General Manager but no correspondence from her. 3 weeks later and still no new correspondance received I forward an email to the group General Manager chasing for a response and as of today still nothing. Being a Hilton Diamond member and Intercontinental Platinum Ambassador I respect good service and give great loyalty to those who deliver. For this stay my party had 6 rooms booked however this played no relevance in the service offered also. For the Grange City Hotel and their group I can confidently state that I will never use their facilities again and would strongly recommend that they review their management skills both at site and senior management level.

Myself and my boyfriend booked this hotel after finding a great deal of £99 per night including breakfast. The lobby is very impressive and the reception staff and concierge where very friendly and helpful. Our room was pleasant and clean, with a blackout blind which was great for a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a buffet, on the Saturday morning the hot food was waitress service but on Sunday morning it was part of the buffet. There is a large selection of continental food as well.

We went for a few drinks on the Friday night and found a nice pub for food and modern bar for happy hour drinks, on Saturday as this is mainly a business district these were closed. There is a Wetherspoons nearby and a few chain restaurants. We went for a nice drink in the Skybar at the DoubleTree next door which has a great view of the city.

Unfortunately the Circle line tube service was closed over the weekend, not the fault of the hotel but made it not as easy to get around so I would check the tube services if staying on a weekend.

This is a very nice hotel, I would recommend if you can get a good deal, depending on your plans for your stay I would research the location.

Got a really good deal to stay at this hotel on last minute.com top secret deals. The hotels location is great, 30 second walk from tower hill. Reception impressive, and for a London room it was not a bad size with good in room facilities and furnishings. What did let it down was they were unable to help us with 2 requests - one for phone charger, the other for hair gel! You would expect a hotel of this rating to be able to accommodate these requests! The other down side was the concierge did not have the best skills to direct you to some very well known and local points of interest and sent us the very long way to our destination!

This hotel look's very impressive on first arrival. Check in was good, staff very friendly. I had ordered an executive twin double and although I did check with the hotel that was what I was given, I very much doubt it as it look's nothing like the one in the website (no sofa's, no robes, but when asked they were given. Quite small room). I had asked for a room with a view week's before we went but ended up looking at the building wall next door.

No fault of the hotel but we were woken at 2.30 in the morning by a party in one of the other room's. We did not complain at the time as we thought it was just people coming home from an eveing out but this must have gone on for at least an hour, so sleep was not great. I did complain the next day only to be looked at as if I was mad for not reporting it earlier (not even sure if the manager believed me !

The Spa is nice.

I would take all this with a pinch of salt if it was a last minute cheap deal but it wasn't I choose this hotel in advance and paid full price. Think someone else said before if you get a deal on it that's fine, but I don't think I got value for money.

Breakfast was good everything was fresh and the staff very attentive.

Been staying at this hotel for over ten years but this will probably be our last visit. Booked the standard king size room months ago for one night only to be told at checkin that we had a received complimentary upgrade to an executive twin room. This was in their "new" wing with a horrible view directly onto the train tracks. My other half doesn't like to make a fuss so we put up with it. However the quality of the bathroom fittings was awful - the sink plug thingy didn't work, one of the sliding doors on the shower had come off it's runner and the shower screamed when the water was running. Would have rather have been stuck with a poky standard room with everything working! Complained on checkout and all they did was ask me to write down my email address on a compliments slip. Think we will be trying the new Doubletree around the corner next time.

Room Tip: Avoid the new rooms in the new wing - poor elevator service and bad views

Stayed for a couple of nights last weekend. Very comfortable bed and a great shower but a five star hotel this is not. We didn't even bother with the breakfast. £23? I don't think so when there is a very good Wetherspoon's round the corner that does an excellent breakfast for £3.99.

Hotel was handy for the tube etc but it was terribly dated. All gold and mirrors. Getting in the lift felt like being possessed by the spirit of Alexis Colby.

It's fine but needs a major facelift. One last thing. Five star hotel and the best you can do is instant coffee in the bedroom? Hello. One word for you Grange Hotel. Cafetiere. Your competitors round the corner at Hotel Indigo have heard of those.

The hotel is in a great location, about a 2 minute walk to Tower Hill Tube Station. The check-in and check-out process was quick and efficient. The room was excellent and had a balcony which looked out onto the Roman wall below and the Tower of London to the right. My husband used the pool and health centre and said they were excellent.
