“A two night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Regents Park, our favourite hotel in London, on 2nd and 3rd of Feb. using Priority Club points.

It is a smaller hotel than Bloomsbury and all the rooms are small but maintained to the same standard. We were made very welcome by a new manager, and we were soon in our room on the sixth floor. It is always good to be recognized and to recognize members of staff who have been there for some time.

My last report on this hotel is still valid. Very friendly staff and well located.

Breakfasts are good value for money

Firstly, let me say I may be biased because we had a fantastic promotional deal, £20.12 a night !.

The hotel is very well placed to access shopping in Oxford Street and if you are fit and able it is in walking distance of the West End.

The room was very clean and had all the usual amenities. Staff were helpful and very nice.

The cafe at the Gt Portland St tube station "Istanbul" is very reasonable for a breakfast sandwich / teas etc. We went to Greenwich on the sunday and would recommend it for a morning / afternoon visit. 10 minute walk to Marylebone High Street recomended for a coffee and a little people watching.

5 minutes walk from Great Portland Tube Station, overall recommended, especially if you can get a good deal!

Room Tip: We stayed on 6 th floor , very quiet.

We didn't spend much time in the hotel as had so much to do in London but pleased that we were upgraded to an Executive room for our one night stay. Comfortable bed and pillows and very clean room. Great shower and fluffy towels/robe. Within walking distance of where we wanted to go - and not far from Regent's Park for a leisurely stroll. Breakfast was great.. usual choices of full English and continental, including pancakes and fruit salad - nicely laid out. Didn't sample the bar or restaurant at night so can't comment. Overall a good stay.

My wife and I stayed at The Holiday Inn on a theatre/hotel mini break and, after reading some of the reviews, wondered if I had made a wise choice. I have to say that the hotel was one of the best that we have ever stayed at in London. All of the staff, without exception, were friendly and very efficient. I admit the bathroom was small (but who spends hours in a bathroom?) but it was scrupulously clean and tidy. Our room on the fifth floor didn't have much of a view but we weren't there for that and anyway it was so so quiet (much more desirable) that we weren't bothered at all. The evening meal was excellent and very good value, the breakfast was far superior than we had ever had before with so much choice that we were spoilt as to what to have. And even more important the tables were cleared exceptionally fast so then no-one that I saw had to wait for a table. Would I stay here again? - easy, a resounding yes!!

Room Tip: Not sure about all the rooms but ours on the fifth floor was very quiet - couldn't even hear the...

Location is good. Close to 3 subway lines, buses and many restaurants, however it was very noisey even with the windows closed. Several hospitals are in the vincity and you here sirens all night long.. The breakfast was very expensive 16 for the meal, internet was also expensive and the provider we had trouble with the service multiple times. Their service techs are not that knowledgeable or helpful.. The cleaning staff was WONDERFUL. Everyday the room was cleaned with fresh lines and towels. It was hit or miss with the other staff members, as to how friendly or helpful they were.Rooms are small which is typical for Europe. . We stayed for 12 nights half for business and the other half vacation.

This Holiday Inn was a disappointment. A long queue at reception to check in (and equally long to check out).
The room was grubby and dowdy. It needed a good coat of paint and a thorough clean. The shower was broken and the bath was stained.
I will not be staying here again!

Dear AitchHW,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings following your stay with us at Regent's Park. I was extremely disappointed that you felt so dissatisfied and even more so, as your experience seemed to have been so far removed from the many other reviews that we have received in the recent months.

Both the Team and I care passionately about our guest's experience and as such, my Hotel Manager Edward, has been working really hard with his team and also with the guests to invite and encourage direct feedback.

All of our Front Office team are actively asking our guests to "rate your stay" and Edward himself has published his contact details in the lifts and public areas, so guests can have the opportunity to report any issues and concerns that they might have during their stay.

I would be happy to help resolve your dissatisfaction, so feel free to contact either Edward or myself directly at the Hotel.

kind regards

Simon and the Team

I have been using Holiday Inn on and off for several years. The hotel is clean. The food is ok for the price. The cost of the hotel is more than what its worth but this is the norm for Holiday Inn. The loyalty scheme is good. The location of this particular hotel is useful and close to the Great Portland Street tube station.
What I don't get with Holiday Inn is the way they clean the room....If you do not put your rubbish in the bin, then it is conveniently placed somewhere for you to see....What am I going to do with empty crisp packets. And after I iron, why leave the iron board where it was......it must have been awkward making the bed around it.....and why take my milk out of the fridge......if you leave the rubbish, why not leave my milk !. Overall, it's clean and convenient and suitable to my needs as a business traveler.

Well firstly walshp4, thank you for your review and for your continued loyalty and custom.
With 69 million members, Priority Club® is the hotel industry's first and largest loyalty programme in the world. Our wide range of rewards give our members unparalleled choice and flexibility and we LOVE that you like it!

I am pleased that you enjoyed the food and were able to comment so positively about the cleanliness. These have been key areas that we have already received loads of great feedback about over the past few months. Just like our great location to, it sounds like you were able to use this to your advantage getting around London.

I am sorry to hear that you found frustration with some of housekeeping policies and as such, I will be sure to update your personal profile for any future stays that you have. If you would like to contact me directly at the hotel at any stage, please feel free and I will be happy to chat with you.

We hope to see you again soon.

Best regards

Simon
