“4 Star but not for me!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

I ended up in what must be the smallest hotel room that I have ever stayed in in my life. The bedroom itself was 6x7 foot with a single bed and a very very small bathroom. Because the room was so small it was also very warm to sleep in. The noise from the road outside meant that I couldn't leave the window open. Granted, the hotel did provide a small fan which gave some relief

Was allocated this through secret deals on last minute.com . paid £90 for basically a cupboard. The room was tiny, the toilet even smaller. The shower cubicle is ridiculously small. Not a room that should be getting sold as a great deal for the money.

Only redeeming feature of the hotel was its staff. Found them all very helpfull and polite. They were a credit to their company. Unfortunately would not reccomend this to people if they were getting the cupboard!

After reading previous reviews for this hotel I was a little sceptical and was beginning to regret booking it, but fortunately was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I had a lovely 2 day break staying at this hotel and were very happy with it. We were upgraded to a family room which meant we had a double bed each! Very comfortable too! The room was very adequate in size, although we were facing the back of what looked like another hotel. However our room was very quiet, with no sound of passing traffic. The room was a little warm and without a/c, however there was a fan in the wardrobe if needed. The staff at reception were very pleasant and there was always someone on hand to help with any questions we had with regard to sightseeing and transport. Help was always on hand, although one of the very pleasant helpful guys did struggle a little with the English language, this problem was overcome though quite easily though. They couldn't do enough, even printing maps off for us.The hotel is also very well situated for the Victoria line, also Buckingham Palace is in walking distance, plus the Big Bus Tours. Breakfast also was very adequate in a pleasant room, coffee and tea was in plentiful. If anything I would say the waitresses were a little too keen in taking away our plates! After reading previous reviews about the size of the bedrooms I would just like to add that I had a peep in one of the double rooms and to me the size of it was absolutely fine, it wasn't enormous but very adequate and I would not have complained about the size. One more thing, the lift was brilliant, very quick and efficient and made of glass so if you have a fear of lifts, this one gives you the feeling of not being closed in.

Room Tip: Ask for a family room, also a room not facing the main road.

Excellent location off Vincent Square, easy access to Victoria and Westminster. Nicely proportioned rooms in a pleasant heritage building. The foreign staff were attentive but struggled to make themselves understood in some circumstances. One major issue at this hotel is the outrageous breakfast option. Asked on check in if you wish to attend breakfast an £18 charge is added to your bill. The breakfast is nothing more than a cheap heated buffet In a cramped windowless dining room, very very disappointing and really not value for money. We would however stay again as the location is very good.

a very nice hotel on avery quiet square only a ten minute walk from Victoria and Buckingham Palace. It is in an old building - so no air con, no free wi fi, and only one plug in the room for chargers (two if you unplugged the TV) - not good for modern phone and Ipad charging, but, on the plus side, so quiet that you could sleep all night with the windows open without being disturbed.

I cannot stress the title enough. The so-called single rooms are smaller with tinier beds than you would give a 10 year-old child. It is nothing short of insulting. To add injury so said insult is the lack of aircon forcing the poor occupant to suffer a sweaty, miserable night in a bed where his or her feet stick out the end. How this place has a four-star rating is beyond me. I've had more comfort hosteling back in the day.

Room Tip: Request a double room with aircon ONLY. Anything else simply guarantees that you would have had a be...

I could not fault the hotel staff and cleanlieness, staff efficient and friendly, it was clean, comforatable and had lovley toiletries, nice towels, a safe and nice tea/coffe facilities and a decent hairdryer. Our room was lovely but our room was so hot it was like an oven. We were told there was a fan in our room to plug in, there wasn't but we were sent up one straight away. We tried various places to put the fan in the room in order to ensure a good breeze but no matter where we put it, it was still really hot. We had the fan on high and the window wide open all night and we slept just lying on the bed, not underneath the covers. We were still sweating even at that. I didn't find the room noisy at all with the window open but we were uncomfortable with the heat. I did say this to reception and they said due to the construction of the building it was not possible to install air con but surely a big fan on the ceiling could be installed or a portable air con unit put in each room?. There is air con on the 5th floor but I was told these rooms were booked out (I did book my room 3 months in advance). I would stay in this hotel again but in cooler weather. The location is fabulous, so close to Victoria and St James tube station and within walking didatnce (15mins) to Buckinghan palace and Scotland Yard is just around the corner and there are lots of cafes and restaraunts nearby. I hope the hotel takes this feedback on board.

Room Tip: Ask for air con when you book, its on the 5th floor. Actually, insist on having air con.
