“Lovely stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

I've read previous reviews that criticise the hotel for being old fashioned, but I think it is in keeping with the age of the building. It's nice to stay somewhere that has a bit of character rather than a standard bland look.
We stayed on the 4th floor which was very hot, even for me! We had to request a fan, which was responded to very quickly.
Our stay included continental breakfast, that we both agreed was more than adequate which includes sliced meats, cheeses and fish along with the usual pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt and juices. But not sure I would have wanted to pay £18 for it, separately. Full English would have been £24.
On another positive note the hotel was clean, tidy and the staff were courteous and pleasant. The room was small but had everything you would need, ie mini bar, iron/board, hairdryer and bathroom niceties.
On a negative, parking is a problem, can only park on the road between 8.30pm-8.30am otherwise there is a NCP almost next door at £36 for 24hrs - 2hrs is £11 and 4hrs was about £22, so no point moving the car between the road and car park because it's more expensive.
Hotel advertised convenient for local attractions but it's a fair walk to covent garden, Leicester Square, theatreland etc. you'll definitely need an internal SATNAV because there's lots of twists and turns! Great Portland Street station is just up the road but cost £17+ for 2 return tickets to Leicester Square. Decide to catch a taxi instead but was £11 one way!
Despite this, really loved the hotel and will definitely stay again.

I stay at the Grange Fitzrovia regularly and it's my "hotel of choice" when staying in this part of London. It's small, friendly and the staff always give you a warm welcome. The rooms vary in size and layout because they're part of an old building - some have more space than others. Certainly, they're not chic or boutique style, but they're always very clean and are well maintained. I really don't understand why comments say they're "tired" - believe me, I've been in far worse!

I have breakfast there regularly and although it's not the greatest, it is perfectly adequate and cooked to order (rather than sat on hot plates keeping warm for ages).

Check in is always very speedy and efficient and check out equally so. The lifts have always been brilliant for me and respond instantly when I call them. My only complaint is that it is very, very warm on the upper floors of hotel, presumably because there's no air conditioning and it's difficult to open the windows very far. But that aside, i find very little to complain about.

So thank you to the staff for making each stay personal and friendly. I look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms at the rear of the building - on the whole, they're quieter. The views aren...

Thank you for your kind review, we are pleased that you are a regular of the Grange Fitzrovia Hotel and find that it has consistently high standards. It is a listed building and therefore does not have uniform shape and size rooms. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

We stayed here on our first night in London on our honeymoon. The staff looked after us extremely well! The location is sensational for seeing all the main sites. Good dinner options and pubs literally around the corner. Breakfast is ok but nothing special but overall it was a good experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The service on reception was good and efficient. Our room was on the ground floor at the back of the house and the view was a wall. The room was smaller than we were expecting, but it was clean and very comfortable. the Bathroom was tiny and not easy to get in and out of, but it was again very clean and a nice shower.. but saying that it was a great location and we would stay here again. we only ate breakfast and it was fine. The only complaint is they serve already made tea and coffee and the Thermos pots of tea at one time had coffee in them, but i asked for a pot of tea which was much nicer. We would stay here again though as the location was great for what we wanted.

Hotel was quaint. A little dated and one lift out of service. Pleasant enough welcome, room ok. Tiny for an executive double but ok. Went downstairs to the restaurant..... Only two of us eating (table each). Took over 25 mins for a fillet steak to arrive, ordered medium rare and it arrived very well done and got sent back promptly. Another 20 odd minutes and the replacement finally arrived.

We are sorry to hear you were not entirely satisfied with the hotel during your stay. Your comments regarding food have been passed to the Head Chef to prevent them in the future.

Our lifts are currently being refurbished to improve their speed and efficiency. Whilst we are attempting to keep any disruption to a minimum, we regret if this impacted on your stay. This work will be completed soon.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

We chose to stay at this hotel for a second time due to it's excellent location. It's within easy walking distance of Oxford Circus and various tube stations. It's also close to Regents Park.

The hotel is a little outdated but it's very clean and the shower's are nice and powerful. We got a cooked breakfast included in the price which is rare in London.

The staff are very helpful and will look after your luggage before you've checked in and after you've checked out.
