“London weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Just had a lovely weekend at the Bedford in September. The location was perfect. It was in Russell Square which is one stop on the tube from Kings Cross and then when you leave the tube station turn left and it is just round the corner.
The full English breakfast set you up for the day. The staff were very polite and helpful and I thought the size of the hotel was perfect. Some of the hotels are too big and you seem to get caught up in the hustle and bustle.
Our room was quite noisy as it was on the 5th floor over the main road so a room at the back would be quieter. One of the draw backs that we found was that when we returned to the hotel after seeing a show we decided to have a drink at the hotel but they stopped serving a 11.00. The surrounding bars were the same although we did find a nice bar, I think it was called Night & Day that was open till 1.00. Apparently that area is classed as residential.
I would def stay there again, the location is perfect for a weekend break.

Room Tip: Higher floor on the back away from the main road.

We have used this hotel as our overnight base in London several times over the year it is a good 3 star with consistent value and convenient for exploring central London or overnighting between train stations when necessary. We were glad to see the garden was maintained and the pools back with water this time as that makes the terrace bar.

Room Tip: rooms at the back may be quieter and have a better view [post office tower on the skyline]

Good location and easy walking distance to Russell Square underground. The lifts were good to easily transfer our luggage to our room. The free wifi worked well in our rooms, however we had to keep getting a code from the front desk every 8 hours as it expires, which means returning to the front desk each night. We had to pay another 5 pounds to have English breakfast and wish we hadn't as it seemed the eggs were powdered eggs, tomatos from a can and not good sausages and bacon. Definitely have breakfast elsewhere. No air con and no fan was provided when requested to cool the room at night. Our room was on the road which seemed good at first to be able to see the action going on, until we tried to sleep. Even with the windows closed the sirens of ambulances and police kept us awake.

Room Tip: Apparently there are rooms facing the garden on the other side of the hotel. If you did stay here o...

The Bedford for location is excellant, great to walk to Covent Garden and other attractions, but............ We were in a room facing the main road... No double glazing.... For the 2 nights we were there we never slept due to the outside noise..... Sirens constantly through-out the night, revellers along the street, and just the general noise from the traffic. The hotel itself is clean and the breakfast is average, but we found there was always a smell of fish in the reception which is directly next to the Restaurant. We were on a Super Break so we can't fault the quality of the hotel, but as for location to get a good night's sleep, forget it..........

Room Tip: Try not to get a room facing the main street. you will never sleep !!!!!!

We stayed 4 nights at Bedford Hotel to explore london.
Location is perfect, very close to major attractions and with 2 underground stations nearby to choose.
The rooms aren't the smallest we have stayed in London and are very confortable.

In our opinion the only downside is the breakfast that has little variety.

Its a good value for money and I definetly will stay there again next time we go to London.

I stayed here for 2 nights with friends whilst on a week end break in London. The location is great two tube stations not far away. Our room was very clean and it is a good standard hotel for the price we paid The staff on reception were very friendly, nothing was to much trouble for them.

The waiters in the restaurant were really nice and the breakfast was good. We were in a room at the back so didn't hear to much noise, but even if we did you are in London after all so its to be expected. The young man who cleaned our room we were on floor six rooms 603 and 604 he was excellent very friendly and chatty also said hello to us and wish us a nice day when we saw him.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean, comfortable hotel in a good location. i will be returning here when i next visit the city.

Bedford offers standard accommodation at a reasonable price. It is a nice and clean hotel and a convenient “base” for moving around (museum, theatres, shopping, etc).
It doesn’t provide anything truly special, as a comparative advantage over it rivals but it will surely cover your standard needs without disappointing you.

Rooms are in general ok without being extraordinary. The staff is polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast options are ok but there is always room for improvements.

Noise is not always a problem as long as windows are closed. (I stayed in February). There are though various sources of noise that may appear annoying to more noise-sensitive guests.

Overall:
A good, reasonable option esp. for the tourist who likes to move around a lot. Convenient location, nice area served by numerous transportation means. Lots of things to do around.
