“West End Hotel in Bloomsbury.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

This hotel is so convenient for shopping, theatre land, Covent Garden, British Museum, Oxford Street and so much more. All these facilities are within walking distance. Basic but very clean hotel, which was sufficient for my needs. Staff friendly and helpful, particularly the lady showing me to my table for breakfast. I have stayed in 2 other hotels within this group and the Bedford is the smallest and friendliest.

In the height of the summer, the rooms are hot as there is no AC but you are able to open the windows, which is unusual in a London hotel. The garden has been cleaned up since my last visit and it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine.

Helicopters can be heard throughout the day, which is annoying but they do stop late evening. The buffet breakfast is okay. There is a reasonable choice and fresh coffee.

I will visit this hotel again as my stays have always been enjoyable and comfortable.

Room Tip: Asked for a room at the back, as there is less noise.

We were at the Bedford for 4 nights. It is a good location with the British Museum just a couple of blocks away, subway stops a bit further but an easy walk. We even walked to the River one evening. Plenty of places to eat near by. I am glad we took a cab with our luggage from Victoria Station when we arrived from Gatwick as the tube did not have a lift. We did use the bus system to make it to Paddington with our luggage when we left London and that worked out well. I chuckeled at TimS21's review because that fish smell was noticable at times. The front desk staff was very helpful with public transport and answering questions. This is a good value hotel for the expensive city of London. I would stay again. Bloomsbury is a lovely section of London with beautiful squares.

Room Tip: On the back side of the hotel there is a nice view of the pond. The front side/street side it can b...

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were extremely helpful, especially when my friend mentioned she didn't like going in lifts, we were offered another room on first floor. Our room was spacious, clean with ironing board/iron/hairdryer etc. Breakfast was great with ample choice. Sitting out in the garden in the evening with a large glass of wine after a busy day shopping etc was the perfect end to our day! Will definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed at the Bedford for a weekend in London. It's covenient for Euston, St. Pancras or King's Cross stations and just a short walk from the British Museum, Covent Garden and theatreland. Our double room was on the small side but very clean and well insulated from traffic noise. Breakfast was adequate though the smell of smoked haddock spread right up the staircase and was a little off-putting. There is a good range of eating places close by.

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it was very much like all the other 3* hotels in the area. It was dated but otherwise very clean. We decided to stay this July because of it's location, we prefer the Russell Square area. The staff were very friendly and helpful, bringing a spare chair to the room so that we could sit in the window watching the world go by at the end of a very tiring day walking. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered our room as it had been totally refurbished. New windows, beds, carpets and other furniture all done in neutral colours giving a much cleaner look. The room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was ok, nothing great about it but as there are so many lovely cafes in London, it was adequate. We soon stopped somewhere for coffee and cake. The garden could have been better with just a little bit of TLC. It was quiet and peaceful with a covered area for smokers. Tables and chairs had seen better days but maybe this is on the list of things to do. Next time we come to London, hopefully before next year, we will definitely stay at the Bedford Hotel.

Room Tip: We preferred the street view rooms on the higher floors because we are nosey and like people watchin...

We had a room facing the gardens in the back so there was always a breeze coming through our open windows. Vintage but nice and clean. Free breakfast was convenient and good. Close proximity to everything we wanted to do. Staff was courteous and helpful. We would stay here again.
