“Good place to start the night off....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Good selection of beer, very authentic menu. Disappointed with the cost though. Appreciate its Londn but £4.70 a pint is surely too much. Also, why would tables be reserved in a pub ? Makes it diffcult if you want food - I was lucky.

“A fabulous place to go for good food and drink”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

This is the most recent visit in a (now lengthy) series of visits since I first discovered this gem of a restaurant and bar.

I can truly say that there is very little about this establishment that puts a foot wrong, in fact everything from the helpful staff to the excellent food and drink make this a true gem in terms of places to eat in central London.

I would definitely go back again.

“Good food and beer in a noisy venue that doesnt quite capture the authentic German Beer Hall atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

The venue was smaller than I imagined it to be, and in my opinion it didnt quite create the authentic German beer hall feeling that was intended. The positives for me were the staff, friendly and very attentive, German speaking staff also present. There is an excellent selection of German beers. The food was very well cooked and presented. The prices did seem a little excessive, although this is Central London, and the location, just off the Strand, is very central indeed, so the expensive prices are somewhat understandable. With this being a basement venue and not being overly large, I found it very noisy. There was a group of 8-10 guys sitting on the table behind ours, all drinking their beer in litres, so they were getting louder and louder, making it difficult for our (more civilised) group to talk to each other. I probably wouldnt rush to return here, but I recommend it if you are looking for German food and beer.

I go to Munich a fair bit and Bierschenke has definitely got Munich standard food here.
Worth a visit.

“Just what the weekend called for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Have been a few times with mates. On each occasional, their selection of beer and size of their glasses has never failed to amaze me. The food they serve is also very tasteful and reasonably priced in my opinion. The staff are all very accommodating and the music is an absolute bonus. Just another pub and restaurant that proves there's many hidden gems to find in every nook and cranny of London if you look hard enough :)
