Although Roganic has now closed I'm sure Simon Rogan will be returning to London soon as this restaurant was such a success. You can have taster menus at many of London's Michelin starred restaurants but they will almost certainly not be as original and unique as Roganic's.
Dishes that sound boring or just plain weird are anything but. Flavours are all balanced perfectly, every dish has been thought out with painstaking detail, textures, flavours, colours, everything is there with every course.
It is not cheap but the amount of work that must go into developing each dish, not to mention the cooking involved, must be huge.
I have only mentioned the food but on both occasions I have been the service has been impeccable. Friendly and engaging but never intrusive which is the perfect combination.
I am sure Simon Rogan will return to London but if you cannot wait then make a trip to the Lake District and visit L'Enclume. The menu is very similar although the restaurant has a more industrial feel to it as it is so big and there are so many staff rushing around. That is what was so nice about Roganic, there were no more than 10 tables which gave it a really intimate feel.
I have also heard that Simon Rogan has opened a new restaurant in Manchester which might be a bit more accessible for people. I have not been but from what I have experienced of his food so far it would definitely be worth a visit.
