“Excellent Service, Fantastic Food and Great Selection of Wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Jose Pizarro owns two great restaurants in Bermondsey Street but you have to be early or very lucky to get seats, without queuing, at Jose. If you are lucky enough to get a seat the service is fast, friendly and slick; once you have ordered the food is prepared, cooked and served really rapidly. All the staff are helpful, chatty and smiling; working unstintingly around the packed seating spaces. The days menu is written on the chalk boards; every dish we tried was fresh, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. There is an extensive range of sherry and range of wine to suit all tastes and pockets; the staff are happy to advise and let you have taste before committing yourself to a bottle.
If you want more a less hectic meal, a fuller menu but equally good service wander down the road to Pizarro

“My favourite place in London just above ... Pizarro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

A Spanish food journey without leaving London... An explosion of taste. You can die for their PLUMA. The wine is very good and always something new on the board

“Call me Lucky - it's 2 mins from our flat!”

I live a 5 minute stroll from this fantastic place. Delicious food, great atmosphere. Wish it was a bit bigger but then it would probably lose the buzz...

“My new favourite London tapas bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

Finally got to go, the previous time I was in the area they were queuing out of the door. It was a fairly quiet this Sunday, following a long and hot walk down the South Bank. Got seated immediately and just as quickly offered bottled Alhambra beer and very reasonably priced, top of the range Fernando de Castilla sherry.

This is exactly what a Tapas bar should be. Short punchy, chalk board menu of simple dishes perfectly prepared in an open kitchen. Amongst other things we had excellent croquettas, secreto Iberico and a tomato salad to die for.

Service was swift and friendly, is reasonably priced and has no downside save that the location is a bit out of the way – unless you work near Tower Bridge.
